....there might have been some context missing

Hence my original comment of “what was this about.”  Still seems unnecessary IMO unless Andrews did something particularly egregious which I didn’t see

yeah but you aren't gonna find out, he probably whispered "You are a real jerk!" in his ear.

"Half measures are a coward's form of insanity."

The criminal charge would be assault, which Iowa law defines as follows:

Quote

Any act which is intended to place another in fear of immediate physical contact which will be painful, injurious, insulting, or offensive, coupled with the apparent ability to execute the act.

Iowa Code 708.1(2)(b).

Ladies and Gentlemen of this supposed jury, I put it to you this way: Say that you are peacefully seated in a public arena and a visibly agitated low-functioning 139-pound Senior citizen runs right at you with furrowed brow while screaming something unintelligible.

Is that assault under Iowa law?

Damn right it is. Now go back to the jury room and follow Iowa law. Do your sworn duty. Do justice.

Oh, I didnt realize he yelled when his head went down.

Are you suggesting it’s not clear that he actually yelled?

I’m not sure. But he should’ve tried this move against Kervkliet. He might’ve won with that move!

The only assault the Brands would get charged with is what they do to the Illini every year.

classless? sure. terrible role model? absolutely. mentally unhinged? yes. limiting to the growth of wrestling. certainly. but absolutely cracks me up.

I've always wondered if they see a replay of themselves and are embarrassed. I would guess not since the continue jumping up and down with their arms in the air like maniacs. They must see it and think "Man, that's some good coaching right there."

Changing the topic from Terry's antics (don't care) to in match coaching.

In the 2nd period of the Pinto/Kennedy match, Kennedy has a decent ride but it just controlling Pintos hips, does not make any attempt to turn Pinto and Terry is in the background just waiving his fist trying to induce a stalling call.   It struck me as odd because after 20 points scored in the first and a stall ride on top, I didn't think a stall call was coming anytime soon and was surprised the coach was trying to induce a stall call as opposed to yelling coaching advise.

And for the record, I think Terry is the best lightweight coach in the country.   It just seems college coaches (not just Terry/Iowa) think their value add is to ride officials for calls more than coach their guys.

I agree. I'm not a fan when anyone does this, and Iowa is definitely not the only school that does it. I can't imagine, as an adult, having someone scream at me the way some coaches do to referees. Forget deducting team points, just go MLB style and if a coach wants to disrespect the officials, they can be warned and then tossed if they continue.

Has Big Ten, NCAA or Iowa made a statement on this?   This can get ugly with coaches running into the stands.

You should start a letter-writing campaign.

It could get really ugly if Terry runs into the crowd to confront a 250 pound guy who knows how to wrestle well. Ugly for Terry!

If you could split Braunagel apart like a wishbone, I don't even want to imagine what you'd do to little ol' Terry.
