MlCHIGANMADE Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Brock Mantanona is probably like the third most talented overall wrestler on the team... I heard he's dominating saldate and his bro Beau in the room all day but they chose to leave the shirt on them he had like five or six top 15 wins earlier in the season so he should be really good next year and then I'm sure his brother will move up to 174 and I think that Catrabone is going to be better than Gilcher...Walters is 16-5 internments this year and should be much better at 184 than bullock...We get Ragusin back... so next year should be a little better if not it's definitely on the coaching

Expand I'm not putting him down at all but I'm just saying if the team doesn't get better in the next few years and the good wrestlers arent progressing then obviously there's an issue with the coaching

Expand exactly last year he was attacking like crazy and scoring a lot even guys techfalled last year and wrestled them this year they were close matches. After that real woods match last year was supposed to be his coming out party which he did do well after that all his losses were close to good guys. He didn't have the NCAA tournament they expected and since then he just hasn't seen like the same wrestlers last year but hopefully it's just something that will pass with time

Several other good recruits coming in, but uncertain how they'll work out. 1

Expand Cardenas is a former Cornell Wrestler. I'm told they're smart. He's also a Sr and he's wrestled 3 NCAA Tournaments already. If the expectation is for you to do your best coaching yelling to your Wrestlers while Wrestling...that's pretty unrealistic. 1

Expand Yeah I even posted how stupid it was at the time, but really when you're in the 10th minute of a match, wrestling on the edge of knife so to speak, momentary lapses in judgment aren't an indication of stupidity or cowardice. I would say a mistake like that makes me want to say things like "he'll never make the finals", but thats not an especially bold claim anyway. "Half measures are a coward's form of insanity."

Expand A lot of times it is for the coach's benefit. Makes them feel like they are coaching. I knew a high school soccer coach who said practice is where coaching happens. Games are where the players figure it out and coaches take notes for what to work on at the next practice. He said his first game in charge he got yelled at by the school principal because he wasn't "coaching" during the game. Drowning in data, but thirsting for knowledge
