Was the collective decision that Taylor is the same as Cael or better? What do the Brands have to do before we drop the presumption that they know less than the average poster?

Would Sanderson or Taylor have been better for Bassett's wrestling growth and IQ?

If we're doing this in the spirit of a fun conversation and not for the sake of trolling then I think Cary Kolat would be the best coach in the country to best compliment Bo's style

Iowa wrestlers do not demonstrate the techniques Cael has been teaching and now Taylor is following the pattern at OSU

Maybe you’re right.  Rby finally learned how to get into par teere vs referees position in international style so Cael (maybe even Taylor) can increase their athletes wrestling IQ.   You may be on to something.

this may be true for Taylor, but I don’t think it’s been proven yet. Most of their guys are pretty much the same as they’ve been. They just have a better team thanks to the portal.   Has anyone shown a noticeable improvement except for maybe Surber?

Hamiti is looking better, but could also be the weight class change.  We'll see how he does in March.

Craig Henning got screwed in the 2007 NCAA Finals.

He always looks great in the regular season though.  Would have been nice to see him against O’Toole

I think most skill development is on the individual athlete. Where I see the biggest impact of coaching is teaching good strategy and approach to the competitive process.

So much is the right approach for the right athlete. The coach's ability to connect specifically with the athlete is the trick. Not all athletes and coaches will mesh.

Bassett really seems like a volume grinder. If I was worried about him at all it would be about keeping him feeling good about wrestling. He has been doing a lot for a long time. Some guys need that and some guys it kills.

I'll play by the rules low IQ PSU fans use and apply them to PSU.

Bassett wants to be an olympic champ, lets look at the last cycle.

HWC: Silver

NLWC:

Zain either not ready at all of taken out by a training accident the coaches should have protected from. Typical PSU SNAFU.

Brooks, taken down with regular butt drag and then chokes. Wasn't mentally ready obviously.

Dake and Snyder both getting worse and worse.

Why would Bassett go to PSU?

Maybe it's all a part of the act.  He just wakes up to take that picture of the clock every morning before getting another 2 hours of sleep.

Has Bassett ever mentioned forgoing his senior season just to wrestle international/collegiate opens?

He seems pretty adamant he wants to be there for Mccort and his brothers.

NLWC freestyle world medalists:

-Thomas Gilman (silver with Iowa) (gold with PSU no Russia) can argue he improved
- Kyle snyder (world and olympic champ at ohio state) Results would indicate linear progression
-DT (PSU product)
-Brooks (PSU product)
-Retherford (PSU product)
-Dake (world champ at Cornell) Probably linear results

Guys can win other places.
