no, I know what thread you are referring to. I read it. I'm not going to be convinced by a bunch of special interest third parties making unverifiable claims. I'd rather listen to what the kid himself has to say. I'll change my tune if these screenshots become publicly available though.

Fair on that but it isn't as if that poster isn't an insider.  And the timeline suggests it's plausible.  Originally the announcement was set for later in the school year (April?) and then Iowa gets spanked and miraculously he pushes his decision to a week later?  Regardless, happy for Bo and his family

The 1% is PSU.

Likely. That's why I don't think Cael would break the bank for Bo. I think he is perfectly content with the guys and he has and blue chippers (Duke, Blaze) coming in, amongst others in the future.

The writing is pretty much on the wall  this came down to $, but the Bassett family will never admit to that.

I still put the chances he de-committs at 25%, 16 months is a long way away, and I doubt he enrolls early, needs ot do his senior farewell tour.

This...Have seen one consistent narrative on this.  Oklahoma state was the school.  Iowa gets demolished in the dual.  They immediately raise the ante.  Despite what was said on FRL the deals weren't comparable.  Screenshots of Bill's convo being passed around stating he had concerns about Iowa and DT had to raise the ante.  Didn't happen.  He's now off to Iowa.

If Iowa gets say, 2 national titles, 4 All Americans from Bo but ZERO team championships, would this be worth it? Curious how much more money Iowa has to play around with to build round Bo, 1 guy isn't going to topple Cael nor best DT at this point with the number of solid guys he has coming in.

  1. Yes, we are in total agreement there. I don't think Cael & co. were willing to play the song and dance (all the social media etc.) of a 17 y/o. I think they took the "no one is bigger than the program" approach, and Bo wants to be the face of a program.
  2. Yes, I think it came down to money and amount of attention Brands promised him. He wants to be the center of attention, as demonstrated by how he handled the whole recruiting process. I'm not saying that to knock the kid. He had a much bigger recruiting process than I ever had. But you can't deny the kid wants to be the center of attention.

I think it's dependent on a few things falling into place.  Bo gets them Melvin Miller.  That's a stud right there. Can the momentum also bring in the Raney twins and Jax?  I've been following this class and everything I've read or heard was Jax is the prize for Cael and DT.  If the snagging Bo sparks an Iowa recruiting tsunami then yes, totally worth it

My money says Slumlord's money can't keep the lone greco hope on campus...

No clue where he ends up, but hopefully the place that best positions him to break the drought...

And Raneys end up with Medlin because Illinois RTC cares about greco...

lol nice ellipsis use in honor of our old friend

Again, who cares? Every one of us would be very tempted to hold our kid back a year if it means they start their adult life with $5 million bucks.

The problem is that for every one Bo Basset there are 100,000 bnwTWG that will never get anything more than a few bucks of cheaper dorm rent if they are talented enough to be in the 1%. So I guess those parents and kids should care. But if there is anything that sports parents have taught me it's that their little Johnnie and Suzy are special and will be 4x NCAA Olympic champions that definitely won't have relationship issues later in life caused by this pursuit.

Did you really just insert yourself into the conversation in self-pitying fashion? Good faith thats how it reads.

I don't care what his age is.  If we were on a football forum and someone posted a defensive end was 6' 4" 280 pounds and he was actually 6'3 275 pounds I'd post the correct info.  And if what I posted was incorrect and @Interviewed_at_Weehawken corrected me then I'd give him props.  You're reading too much into this.  Stating a fact doesn't always mean there is an ulterior motive.

Right, I think the incentive here is that wherever Bo goes, strong chance someone follows him (In this case to Iowa). Miller, Jax, even the Raney brothers will look to make a pretty penny and Iowa im sure gave up ALOT just to land Bo. Question is- Is the pot running empty of does money just grow on trees in Iowa City?

If you think I've been doing anything but shiitposting in all the Basset threads then you might want to reevaluate your critical thinking skills

Yes, somehow there is a Rudis bio that says January.  Bo made a social media post in August about being a year older and his goals etc.  It was later confirmed by another source in the know.  Not that it makes a huge difference, but he's 5 months older than some speculated.

I'd edit that last one if you can.

Alright. by the way I feel really badly that you never got more than a few bucks off dorm rent. Not sure why the world doesn' appreciate you.
