Other countries are standing up to the bully and retaliating. Good for them. It is starting a trade war. The idiot wingers think other countries are just gonna back down but welcome to reality.

Btw, interesting that he imposes 25% tariffs on Canada but only 10% on China, where Tesla does a lot of his manufacturing.

Btw, this is also unconstitutional.  He can only do this in an emergency per the law and there is no emergency. He continues to unlawfully abuse his powers.

I actually hope Canada puts 100% tariffs on u.s. goods.

Are you one of those people that would prefer the country go in the *I poop my pants, don't laugh at me* hole just so you can say Trump failed?

I mean, I don’t like the guy either, but….really?

Example of Canada's Tariffs on U.S. Goods existing before Trump presidency...

  • Milk: Up to 270%
  • Cheese: Up to 245%
  • Butter: Up to 300%
  • Poultry: Up to 300%.

Canada was being "unfair" on agriculture...

Mexico has preexisting tariffs as well...

Some countries will back down and some will not.  I trust those using leverage in the trade wars to have better outcomes than we start with.  Canada and Mexico cannot compete well with us.  Picking the wrong areas against too many or the wrong country can get us in trouble globally; it has before.

What specific legal mechanisms do U.S. presidents use to impose tariffs, and how have these authorities been applied under laws like Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, and the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA)?

I love that this crew is trying something different from the existing path towards an obscene increase in citizen taxes and governmental control.

What is the worst that can happen if this crew fails?  A recession?  And then the reverts back to the previous policies?

What if its successful?

Another winger lie on existing Canadian tariffs. Where do you get your b.s., from fix news again?

Overall, Canadian tariffs on u.s. goods are very low, averaging about 3%. The one you quota for milk, for example, is only for an amount over a specific quota. The base is around 7%.

So 25% is WAY more than what they were doing to us but they should jack it up to 270% now.

He's a bully and coward and will back down if people stand up to him. That's how bully cowards are.

It's already priced in. That's why stock market has tanked since Jan 21. Also, inflation caused by taxes is very different than inflation caused by inflated money supply. He'll do that too though if he gets his massive tax cuts planned without any meaningful spending cut, just like last time.

I just got rid of a lot of my cash. Purchased assets. That's the best protection against diaper Donald's inflation.

Dow Jones Industrial Average (DIA):

  • January 21, 2025: Closed at around 433.00.

These gains reflect a positive trend in the U.S. stock market during this period. Factors contributing to this performance include investor optimism and strategic shifts in investment portfolios.

It's important to note that market dynamics are influenced by various factors, including economic data, corporate earnings, and geopolitical events. Investors should stay informed and consider these elements when making investment decisions.

Nothing unusual about dimocrats voicing their desire for American demise.  But many don’t know how tariffs work.  The tariff is on the first sale, not the last.  At 25%, the increase for a $10 item might be .50 cents or less.

They're down if you look at the current off hours trading. Tanking today due to tariffs and down overall since Jan 21

I think pretty much everybody knows that, actually. Your final 5% figure (or less) isn't necessarily accurate though.

It will tank either way with the wingers and musk in charge. I'd rather have it happen NOW so we can vote these clowns out and save ourselves long term.

Yah. That would be pretty dumb to sell everything because a particular person wants the economy to tank. No matter who that specific person is, actually.

Actually, all I really want is for inflation and our deficit to be reasonable, but since he wants to go in the opposite direction, LET IT BURN!
