What are Cardenas big wins?

#2 Cardenas (Michigan) dec #22 Camdem McDaniel (Nebraska) 5-2

#4 Josh Barr (PSU) TF #22 Camdem McDaniel (Nebraska) 19-4

Michigan wrestled Nebraska on Friday at home. PSU Wrestled Nebraska last week at Nebraska. That's a common opponent for you at least.

You're just in a rush. Barr may very well be a legitimate contender, but until he beats another contender, it's fair to call him a "maybe contender." Lilledahl was being credited as a contender and just lost to Dean who is a mid-ranked 125. We don't yet know where Barr is in comparison to Buchanon, Cardenas, or Ferrari. He could beat them, or he could be a step behind. We just don't know yet. But if you want to blanket everyone that wrestles for PSU as invincible then go ahead. McIntosh was pretty good, but how many titles did he win?

Expand

He has beaten last year's #7 (Little, #9 seed), #8 (Beard, #4 seed), and R12 (Poz, #14 seed).

If you aren't willing to call him a contender, you shouldn't be willing to call Focus a contender, either.

Agree.  I’d give Barr higher odds to win than Ferrari at this point

I think Lilledahl "maybe contender" comparison is apt to Barr and Davis.  Not yet clear that they have the offense from neutral against other top 5 wrestlers, but they might.  With their defense and conditioning, they are capable of beating anyone in a defensive/positioning battle of attrition.

Can Davis get a td against Ayalla and can Barr get a td against Buchanan?  Definite maybe and looking forward to finding out!

No to Davis getting a takedown on Ayala.

I think Barr can score a TD on Buchanon but I would favor Buchanon to win the match.

I don't expect Barr to go into NCAAs without a loss. How he looks in those losses will dictate If I view him as a contender because I expect him to wrestle his best matches at NCAA's If he's within the margins with Buchannan this weekend or at big 10's he's probably my pick come the tournament. I think it comes down to if he can utilize his pace without giving up a lot early. In the first match with Sinclair, he gave up go behinds clinically for the sake of pushing a pace and generating. I think he's wrestling much smarter now, but we shall see when he wrestles that real top tier at the weight.

Oh. I thought he posted something nuts on twitter or something. I'm almost completely ignorant of social media garbage like Facebook, Twitter, etc.

To clarify, I'm not even saying Barr will go undefeated. But, how many PSU upperweight freshmen have we seen avenge losses at Nationals over the years? It's more than a few, that's for sure.

I almost feel sorry for the guys who rematch PSU guys at NCAAs after beating them at B1Gs.

Almost.  People get what they deserve on the mat.

If it comes to him wrestling Ferrari he has the advantage of Cael & staff &who are very good at coaching & preparing to go up against a specific opponent.
