Who’s next? Michigan?

Rutgers and VaTech. tOSU's sustained performance and Michigan's NIL will be used as bargaining chips against the 3 real contenders.

i am an idiot on the internet

For those keeping track, final 7:

Iowa, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Rutgers, Virginia Tech

Is he going 141, 149, or 157 his Fr year?

Let's parse it out.

Iowa opens up at 141 and 149 next year and Bassett can probably start at either of those weights next year.

Bassett can probably beat anybody Michigan has on their roster from 141-157 already.

Ohio State 149 Demilio graduates and 157 Paddy Gallagher returns. No way Bassett beats out Mendez at 141.

Oklahoma State returns some pretty good wrestlers at 141-157 and Bassett might not be able to beat any of them right off the bat (Jamison, Young, Travis)

141 clears out at PSU next year and Bassett could walk into a starting spot but he'd have to pull weight. He'd ride the bench at 149 and 157.

Rutgers doesn't have anybody from 141-157 that can beat him.

Latona graduates at VT, opening up 141, but no way Bassett beats out Henson or Hippolito.

So....after parsing this I've come to the conclusion that he'll go wherever he gets the biggest NIL check, provided the school has an RTC and has a top tier program, and he has a reasonable chance to start immediately.

I'm thinking Iowa or Ohio State.  I can't imagine VT or Rutgers getting this kid unless they are willing to open their checkbook very wide.

Bassett is only a JR in HS.  Henson and Mendez among others will be done by the time he’s in college unless they redshirt next year.

What a journey it has been to arrive at a final 7 that's a surprise to no one.

Oklahoma State for both Bassett and Jax

I think they both want to be the guy/ can't see them ending up at the same school

Has Bassett taken an unofficial visit to UM? That's the only school on the list where he hasn't taken or planned an official, though it's hard to discount Michigan's NIL coffers as @bnwtwg mentioned

This is the reason I don't see either going to PSU. Being on the same high school team I could see both of them as Cowboys.

Bassett absolutely could and would beat Young and Travis. Possibly Jamison too.

But that point is moot anyways because none of these guys would be at OSU by the time Bo got here. I guess Tagen would be but only his true freshman so he could redshirt anyway.

He is a junior right?  So need to look 2 years out.

My bad then, I thought he was a Sr.

By that time, Cowboys might have somewhat of a log-jam around 141-157. Cael, Vega, and Tagen are likely going to be battling for 141/49, leaving one man out. They'll likely also have Robideau, Wolbert, Routledge, and Hickman at 157/165. I think Bo is probably a 157lber by that time but who knows.

Is Bo really that big?  I got the impression he doesn’t cut anything and was basically wrestling up for more competition so would have figured him around 141/149 in college but that’s just me speculating

I don't believe the NIL amount will be the deciding factor for Bo. He's going to get paid wherever he goes, and he'll choose the school where he believes he is going to achieve his long term goals.

I'm assuming you are correct. He doesn't look like he is cutting any weight at all. He's going to be looking at 65kg in 2028, so I would be shocked if he wrestled above 149 his first two years of college.
