Curious to see if anyone has insight on Christian Carroll. Seems like he isn’t hurt, but he has missed/skipped ISU’s last couple outings including the dual last night. Iowa State’s board doesn’t seem to know either, just hopeful he comes back. Been watching this kid for a couple years now, kind of a head scratcher to see him disappear once he finally cracked a D1 lineup.

Just a guess but I wonder if it's weight related. I was really eggcited for him this season after he beat both Cass and Warnierre over the summer but that was at 97 kg (213) and he was reportedly 257(!) last season. He looks pretty huge still too so I wouldn't be surprised if the cut is worse than a colonoscopy without the sleepy gas

Agree, that would be my thought.  Although it’s weird OP said he “finally” cracked a lineup but this is his first actual year of attached competition.

Although wasn’t there talk Bastida could be out for the year?  If so, any chance Carroll bumps up?

I was very high on him going into the season for the same reasons. He had a very tough schedule to start the season, but his loss to NDSU is a head scratcher that I will chalk up to being  "freshman moment." I think he will come around by the end of the year and at least make R12. I thought he was a top 6 type guy before the season started.

Their backup HWT looked pretty decent at Vegas.

Yeah but would he be favored against Hamiti?

No way!  Hamiti would even win in a duel much less a dual.  🤠

Depends on the result of the Hamiti Mesenbrink match.  Wish we could have a round robin between these 3 to finally settle who's the best

If he was actually 257 I don't understand why he would try to make 197 unless he was extremely soft while weighing that much. He'd have been bigger than that majority of the ranked guys at 285.

Maybe he couldn't beat Bastida and wanted to start.

He just transferred out of OKST last year.. he could have gone anywhere.

The state of Iowa recently banned Wegovy and Ozempic and he has to travel out of state to do what is best for him. The only people involved in weight cutting should be a wrestler and his coach, leave the lawmakers out of it. His body his choice!

probably figured he could go 197 a year then take over. but reality might be his body type won't allow him to go 197 effectively

He looked very good at 97kg. Maybe he cut part of the way down to be more effective at that weight but still planned on going heavyweight at OKST. Then, after transferring, he may have decided to give 197 the ole' college try because of Bastida. Or, like Cass, he decided that getting leaner and lighter was best for his long term health (big time speculation).

And if the rumor of Bastida getting a medical year is true, maybe Carroll goes on the move again?

Has Chris Perry booked any flights lately?  🤔

ha! imagine if he goes back to OKST to take over for Hendrickson?

although I thought I read/heard that he didn't see eye-to-eye with the new staff. He should do it anyway just for the lols

Is it not true that he is heading to Iowa to take over for Buchanan at only 60% of his annual rate?  🙅‍♀️

Other way around. He was shown the door.

So you are saying it'd be a waste to throw it at Iowa?

No Carroll has too much waist for I state. Hamiti is a cowboy might be better with pistols now.

He may have Magic bullets.
