if Mullen were as good as Shultz wouldn't he have wrestled?

Well Schultz lost to Hendrickson, so not necessarily.  Probably have to call this a duck though

I need to rewatch that 197 SV to see how close Smith was to getting the danger count(s).

Also thought Fish may have been pinned on Hipolito’s first throw.

But great showing by OSU.

It was pretty close on both.

I expected Henson to come out pissed off because he couldn't do jack against Young.

I picked Fish in that toss-up.

Every other match went damn near to a T on what I thought.

This dual went about as I expected.

For some reason I thought Fish was more of a low risk guy, am I wrong on that?  I know Hipolito’s style may have encouraged some of the craziness there but it almost seemed like Fish was going for just as much crazy stuff as Hipolito (even early in the match before he got down big)

Fish leaves himself open for the errant throws here and there.  Bearclaw got him last year on one very similar, and I think he is trusting the process with DT and just letting it fly this year.

He is nowhere near as locked down and disciplined as Amine is.

Wow, nice picks! I went 10 for 10 on who would win, but didn't get as many of the dec/maj/tech/fall choices right and finished with 56 points, #7 overall

... disciplined or stubborn?  Does Amine know about the tech fall?

Outside of all the OSU compliments, this may have been the highlight move of the  dual.  Crazy that Hipolito might actually be more fun to watch than Andonian.

Badass on 10 for 10!  I am biased towards Fish, being a Michigander by way of Michigan State.  I know it is a toss-up and I know that Hip is at his ideal weight now.

Techfellery is a new addition to his vocab as of this last summer.  He is trying to work it in and I am told he will eventually do it.

Did Surber take a full committed shot? Heck I don’t think he tried a half shot. That was  poorly officiated match and he should have been dinged for stalling

IIRC Surber did take a few committed shots, but he never really go close to locking around a leg. I don't remember thinking that he should get hit, but I could be wrong if I rewatched the match. Regardless, Smith looked like the better wrestler in that match.

I think Fish would win a rematch. He made some mistakes and gave up back points twice. I think he reigns it in if they meet again

A rematch would be interesting because they both had major takeaways:

1) Fish needs to stop going to his own back and generally thinking more about risk management when he is wrestling
2) Hipolito needs more conditioning because he died about halfway through the third period
