thats kind of odd, spot seems "open" by conventional standards.

If i were to guess, coaching staff probably figured Kharchla (who is supposed to be competing second semester) has been a loyal guy and deserves one last go, and Rocco has a redshirt, so why not make that move and let KOT and Hamiti graduate and maximize your scoring potential with Welsh over the next three years.

He was a runner-up at 174lbs last year so what is the issue with him going at 174lbs? The NCAA runner-up lost his spot to someone else on his team? I don't follow Buckeye wrestling closely and was under the impression he was redshirting this year. Can someone fill me in?

It just gets a little funny when you have to make sense of him figuring out in december that he doesn't want to redshirt or go 84. They might have told him the spot was his if he could beat Kharchla, and then he couldn't, or maybe he could  and they changed their tune and told him he was going 84 anyways....the timing means something.

Welsh was originally announced at 174 against Haines for the All-Star; what happened? It's not like he couldn't still RS after an unofficial match. Couldn't make weight?

All rather strange unless he just wasn't happy...

I could be wrong but I think the Flo guys said something about there being a question about whether wrestling in the All-Star might actually burn the redshirt

He also just wrestled and won the CSU Open just on December 7th. Wonder if any OSU staff were in his corner coaching him up like normal as the Buckeyes sent a handful of wrestlers to that tournament.

Take it for what it’s worth, but Mineo posted Welsh was in Okie State this past weekend. Could be a sign if true.

Hopefully for him this one is true which would take some heat off of him for accusing the UWW of antisemitism for not giving Amit Elor wrestler of the year when it was just because of rankings points

So Ryan wants him to RS and he doesn’t so he’s transferring? I feel like it’s make him better and the team better to RS if they have Kharchla available even though he is the returning runner up.

This. For all we know, it's just a financial opportunity. I would assume that tOSU has the money to keep their athletes, but who knows the conversations going on behind the scenes between boosters/coaches/athletes.

Yeah, I am not sure why he is on that hill.  The guidelines are and have been clear for years:  Ranking points.

AE did not get any points for her title at 72 KG the prior year.  Everyone else did for their 68 KG results, as well as ranking events.

Mineo spreads rumors about this kid leaving (he isn't) and spreads rumors about Amit losing an award because of antisemitism and/or bribery (it was determined by a points system). Solid few hours of stoking bs
