The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, NPR… where some of the best fair and balanced journalists come from.

Eric Schmitt said it. They just reported it. He should be looking at rehab, not the Dept of Defense.

He is actually very bright.

Because loudly suggesting that Muslims should be killed in public is a great indication of that.

Two ivy league degrees definitely is.  Or do ivy degrees only count as an indicator of intelligence when someone you like has such a degree?

Lots of smart people say obnoxious and offensive things.  They can still be "bright."

If you back up and look at it from a bigger perspective, you might just realize that a "kill all Muslims" chanting guy leading the Pentagon is a bad thing. Not a good thing.

So, so many more qualified people for the position.

Let it go. This guy has no chance. Save your arguments for the next candidate.

I really don't really care he is confirmed or not.  I am just saying he is an intelligent man.  You disagree or you cannot comprehend a simply written post.

Any proof that he actually uttered the phrase?  Video?

Again, I do not care if he is not confirmed, 1) he is a smart man and 2) clearly has some flaws.

But what is the proof behind the alleged statement?  Surely in the 20th century, someone caught it on camera phone?

Several Republican congressmen mentioned he did that loudly and drunkenly in a bar in their presence.

If there were several then it should be easy to put names and direct quotes with the accusations.  I'm fine with him stepping aside but after a 4+ year witch hunt some folks just don't believe the hunters.

It must be true then.  Book it!

maybe help me understand a time when you observed someone loudly AND drunkenly observed someone saying something off color.  I have observed loud people.  I have also observed drunken people.  Rarely do I see both at the same time so unfortunately I don’t have a story about both together.   How did it make you feel?

It may help me with this event.

I don't think appointing a drunk who has publicly yelled to kill people of a certain religion, many of whom are Americans, is a good idea.

I just thought you would have a better point of view.   Too bad you don’t.

as far as documented facts.  Have any of those or is there just innuendo and rumors?

It's why he got fired from his last job of managing a veterans foundation, one he ran up a huge debt with and then left scrambling to pay the bills.

How about this well documented fact:

He has a unit tattoo for an organization he never served in.

I’m imagining this dude going to some Army installation, doing a Q & A, and getting roasted by the junior enlisted.

***ducking** embarrassing.

Which of his tattoos is that?

(Not being argumentative; genuinely curious.  I have seen explanations for a lot of his ink, but don't recall anything about a unit tattoo.  I certainly respect your knowledge on this type of thing)

Well documented?   I just did a google search and did not find it.   Please show how it is well documented.

Document that. I won't acknowledge it unless it meets with my approval.
