4 out of the first 5 matches have been very close, surprisingly

Not too surprised myself. I will believe it when I see it regarding Bartlett opening up. I have not seen it.

SVN’s pace is elite. Constant forward pressure and action. Lehigh got a good one at 157. He’s gonna grow into an AA contender for them in the near future.

Mitchell Mesenbrink (1) v Thayne Lawrence (UR)

1st - MM shoots in 1 sec again in 5 and gets the TD. MM cuts. shoots, scrambles and TD 6-1. 2 minutes to go. MM riding, and looking for the cradle. No deal. Stall on Lawrence. And it ends 6-1 with 2:30 of RT.

2nd - MM down and out in 7 seconds. On a leg right away and finishes. 10-1. 90 seconds to go. MM has the legs laced and gets 4 NF. 14-1 MM working for the pinfall, but only gets the NF. 19-1 TF.

Levi Haines (2) v Rylan Rogers (UR)

1st - Haines misses a leg. Rogers reattacks and they scramble. Rogers in good position, but stops trying to improve. Stalemate. Haines goes for a leg again and Rogers makes it disappear again, but does not reattack. Haines finally finds it for the TD. He clearly has worked on his pull ups And the period ends 3-0 Haines.

2nd - Haines down and out. 4-0. Haines gets to the high leg and works for the TD.  He turks Rogers and walks the foot to the head and gets the pinfall.

Carter Starocci (1) v Jack Wilt (UR)

1st - Starocci hard on the head. Works to a leg, elevates, but potentially dangerous is the call as Starocci is too heavy on the knee. Starocci on the leg, twisted under, gets the TD, but stopped immediate4ly for injury time. 3-0 Starocci and he chooses down on restart.. Up and out 4-0. Wilt immediately dives low for a leg (like Pete Rose into second base). They scramble to a stalemate. Starocci on the leg, gets crotch lifted and turns it into his own TD 7-0. Working for the turn but they roll through. Ends that way.

2nd - Starocci escapes 8-0. Wilt dives and gets an ankle again. They roll and stalemate. Starocci ducks under for the TD. 11-0. And it ends that way. 1:14 of RT

3rd - Head gear issues for Wilt delays the inevitable. The third set of head gear is a charm. Starocci riding and looking for the turn. Starocci finally cuts. Wilt dives from space again, but stalemated. Starocci on the leg, Wilt whizzered, Starocci beats it just before the buzzer. 15-1 final.

Josh Barr (23) v Michael Beard (6)

1st - The third of the two matches I referenced where Lehigh is higher ranked (oops). Hand fighting to start, a few waves at ankles, but not much in the first 90 seconds. Beard looking a lot thicker than Barr. No committed shots either way and it ends 0-0

2nd - Beard chooses down. Barr hanging on for dear life, but Beard gets the reversal. 2-0. Barr out 2-1 Beard. Barr on a leg and finishes. 4-2 Barr. And it ends that way.

3rd - Barr out 5-2. In on a leg again and finishes again. 8-2 Barr. Barr bails instead of giving up another reversal. 8-3 Barr. 1 min left. Barr shoots a double, switches to a single, scrambles and gets the TD. 11-3. Barr starts waving for the cheers. And that is how it ends. Barr with the MD.

32-3 PSU

They just announced a team point deduction on Starocci.

31-3

Greg Kerkvliet (2) v Calvin Lachman (UR)

1st - Kerk looking underhooks, then ducks for a swing single. 3-0 40 seconds in.  Kerk turns him slow and easy for 4. 7-0. And again 11-0. And again. Three is a charm 15-0 TF. 2:07 in.

36-3 PSU final.

It should be noted that Starocci got a team point deducted for the head smush at the end of the 3rd.  Don't see the point of that when you just won 15-1.

Doesn’t he have a history of being a punk?

Barr looks great.  Beard seems to have always had a suspect gas tank.

Not in dual meets where he is wrestling 3.5 hours after weigh-ins.

No-Tank Beard is the Tournament version.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Fun fact:  Levi Haines' two state finals losses (he went 2-2-1 in his 3 trips) were to Lehigh's 125 and 133 lbers.
