1. Aaron Nagao is hurt, Greg Kervliet is not

2. No decision yet at 157 between Kasak (up form 149) and Facundo (down from 165)

3. Coaches wanted Starocci to go 184 last year

4. There is still a chance Lilledahl redshirts(assuming if Kurt McHenry impresses)

5. 197 is also undecided between Lucas Cochran and Josh Barr

6. While there has been a round of wrestle offs, they will also use the non-conference schedule to make some decisions

Truax weighed under 190 many times weighing in at 197lbs.  There were several threads (verifiable) on here with screenshots of his weigh-in weight.

That is less than many average sized 184lbers.

Had it been decided he was to go 174lbs, he would have gone it.

I would call BS on this one, though.  Facundo did his best wrestling prior to college when he was up a weight (or three).

It's clear the PSU is the fun team.   Based on media day clip below it is clear that Iowa is the Love team.  The number of  things that Brands loves is astounding.  He is absolutely the lovingist coach in wrestling.

I'll need to watch a few more media days in order to properly classify some of the other teams.

I think it is a convenient platitude, though.  I think the plan the whole time was Starocci to 184 and Brooks to 197, but some other things were able to come to fruition to make so Starocci was able to choose himself.

Starocci probably made a sensible argument to the coaching staff that he wanted to go 174 so he could be a full-sized 74kg at OTTs. Same with Brooks. A year ago, the question was why did Brooks have to bump up a weight to make room for Truax? But it was likely so AB would be good to go at 86kg. And it worked.

sure but thats not what i'm talking about. I'm not saying Starocci didn't have an opinion, or that the coaches didn't take it into consideration, I'm just saying the staff made the decision, not starocci. They implied otherwise because they like projecting the image of being chill dudes who don't like cutting weight.

This is the answer, imo. But...why would they have wanted him to go 184? They recruited Truax from the portal...why make him cut more if Starocci can make the weight and it helps his Olympic plans.
