What do you mean that is a ridiculous strawman?

A straw man fallacy (sometimes written as strawman) is the informal fallacy of refuting an argument different from the one actually under discussion.

I always thought it was an argument poised against a non existent perspective.

I copy/pasted the definition.

Does Cornell sell out all home duals? Do they do so with season ticket holders?

Thye usually have most of their home duals at the Friedman Wrestling Center... it's small and intimate that would seat 900 wrestling fans.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

What would this years dual look like (obviously we will need to guess at some weights for who the starter will be etc.)

guessing likely starters

125: LL vs Greggy D

133: Davis vs Ungar

141: Beau vs Cornella

149: SVN vs Fernandez

157: Kasak vs Shapiro

165: MM vs Ramirez (if second sem)

174: Levi vs Ruiz

184: Starocci vs Foca (Second Sem)

197: Barr vs Dellagatta

285: Kerk vs Davis

157 is the real one to watch. 184 could be fun also. Obviously not happening this year but could see those at NCAAs

Most of Cornell's premier duals are held in Newman arena next door which seats about 4,500--they have gotten crowds close to capacity for duals in the past.

I am just pointing out that what you thought it meant wasn't what it actually means.  You aren't the only one who does that.  Many people do that with many words all the time.

Same team, Brosephino.

Love these matchups….any true freshman for either team we could plug in for extra fireworks? (Love that they have 5 matches to play with for things like this)

True dat... no need to triple or quadruple people sitting on each other at Friedman! (That can be rude! We hope they put the heaviest on the bottom if they do!)

How about red herring, then? Le Duke is obviously trying to distract the discussion from its original topic, Penn state’s pathetically weak out of conference schedule

I don't think Cornell will play with them.

Here, I'll say it: They have a weak out of conference schedule.

Simultaneously, they also have the hardest schedule in the country.

Red herring is great word usage, Fred.

Their incredibly weak schedule had them beating Lehigh, who then turned around and beat Cornell a few weeks later, so perhaps they scheduled the better opponent?

Also, their incredibly weak schedule had them going to opens and individual tournaments that had the #1 ranked team in the country at them, so they weren't actually that incredibly weak.

At the end of the season, their incredibly weak schedule ended up setting them up to break the all time points record.

Also, it was known going in to the season that they were going to take it very light leading up to the new year due to MFS and Olympic qualifying events being of a high priority.  The two years prior they went to the premier dual tournament in the Collegiate Duals.

Hard to blame for Carl scheduling cautiously. He probably feels bitten by the late season injury bug: Starocci, Nolf, Suriano, Shak, Zain (FS)... They pay him to win matches and bring home hardware, so making wrestling fans happy probably isn't a huge priority.

That said, it would be interesting if PSU's AD put in an incentive structure in his contract with bonuses based on home ticket sales or the sound meter exceeding xyz decibels or some benchmarks along those lines. Cael said last season that PSU's home duals are too quiet. His boss should incentivize him to build a better match day atmosphere and see what he comes up with.

Is Saunders still on the roster or did he already graduate? He was a big recruit coming out of HS but hasn't found the lineup consistently.  Cant beat Cornella, can he cut to 133 and give a match or is he too big for that?

Psu doesn’t have injuries only fun.   The only team that can have injuries is Iowa lol.   Why is kerk out of the all star meet?   They don’t over train or even wrestle live I thought?

No, put me on "I strongly hypocritical PSU fans, and enjoy pointing out their hypocrisy"

Nolf and Taylor are two of my favorite college wrestlers ever.  I liked John Fritz a lot and spent a weekend in State College at a coaches clinic.  Jeff Prescott and Carl Destefanis were favorites of mine, and Kerry McCoy is one of the best guys I have met in the sport.

But there were very few hypocritical fans back in the 80s and 90s and early 2000s.

But are his tactics working?

Has he even brought home a Team Title?  Have any of his wrestlers even come close to winning a Natty?

We'll never know.  If only there was a measuring stick to determine this.
