No one should have had 5 post seasons.   5xAA or champ.   Or just 5x ncaa qualifier.

the arguing over time will be exhausting.   Is a 5x aa better than a 4 timer.  Nope.

Kyler Larkin not on the roster. Looks like he is delaying a year like his brother. However, there is a big hole at 133 next year I would expect him to fill.

the way jones coaches has a ceiling. for the most part they recruit athletic guys, and turn them into snakey type guys with overtie shrugs and shots from space that they are way too patient with. I assume the philosophy is something like "we should be coaching at the same tactical level as a world title match", but that means you think of every match as a chess match, limiting action and therefore development, and neglecting the physicality which is more inherent to folk than free.

Man.

That’s one of the shortest but most accurate assessments of a team I’ve seen.

Pretty much nails Zahid’s wrestling. Guy is incredibly talented but spends two minutes a match with his left wrist on his thigh, and his left hand holding his left forearm, throwing head fakes.

I’m glad Brooks is going up because DT might very well turn Zahid into a world beater.

After the departure (poaching) of Parco and Teemer, ASU has a number of ways they can fill out the lineup. My guess? At 141-197 they go Ysaguirre-Vasquez-Larkin-Ruiz-McLane-Aziz-Valencia

Man, Cenzo must have U-Haul on speed dial by now. Hopefully he's happy working under Koll again. He was doing good work and enjoying himself during his stint at Stanford but seemed embittered, like the rest of us, when NIL started rolling.

For this year or next? They will have Julian Chlebove at 133 for this year but it looks pretty thin next year after Chlebove is gone.

Makes sense, I just felt like they need some good headlines.

Not sure Kyler is making 133 in a year unless he does not fill out at all. He's wrestled all his college matches the last two seasons in opens at 141.

I agree he will probably end up at 141, but he has wrestled the last few FS tourneys at 61kg.

On another note, what is the deal with the Larkins both delaying a year?

I was dubious that Jones would be successful moving from USA freestyle coach to college. He does not seem to develop well. By this time ASU should be a top 4 every year with their recruiting base. Seems odd Jones has not been more successful.

You can see where he'd be great tweaking world level guys, game planning, playing the dirty little political games that go on in UWW....but he needs guys who already have the folkstyle grit baked into them because I doesn't seem to put it into them. Anthony Valencia being the prime example.

To his credit he has become very good at calling for a stall, being a 3rd coach in a corner, crying to refs and checking the score table 30 seconds  after a match to see why the team score hadn’t changed.  I will give him that.

Just how I see the ASU lineup after the transfers:

125 - Figueroa

133 - Chebove

141 - Ysaguirre

149 - Vasquez

157 - Larkin

165 - McLane

174 - Ruiz (4-0 at 174 lbs including a 6-3 win over Oregon State's Matt Olguin)

184 - Valencia

197 - Acciardi

285 - Schultz

It really sounded like his voice was cracking and on the verge of tears when they discussed Woods leaving for Iowa on the Basch show.
