Per Merriam-Webster, when used in the context of discussing sports, a dynasty is a “sports franchise which has a prolonged run of successful seasons.” So, with that in mind, across all time, besides the obvious Iowa, Oklahoma State, and Penn State, which programs do you consider to be wrestling dynasties?

Penn State is a recent mini-dynasty but it's really tiny compared to 34 and 24 for Ok State and Iowa.

Are we only considering national championships for dynasties or can we make exceptions for conference championships as well? How much are we considering individual success? The reason I ask is because of teams like Minnesota or Cornell who have extended success with individuals, have beaten top teams, and in Minnesota’s case have done things like won the National Duals or beat Penn State H2H in 2014 when they won their fourth straight NCAA title.

Iowa State, Oklahoma St and Oklahoma are the near miss dynasties.

Iowa State has 15 runner up finishes to 13 for Oklahoma State and 12 for  Oklahoma.

I usually look at dynasties by chunks of time. The Green Bay Packers were a dynasty in the 60's. They won 5 championships in that period (3 NFL Championships and 2 Super Bowls). All that said, OSU's NCAA run is pretty amazing. They have either been first or second 48 times in the 92 championships. That is pretty impressive no matter what the sport.

Missouri with the conference dynasty.

They won the Big 12 or MAC twelve years in a row from 2012 - 2023.

Cornell won seventeen straight Ivy League titles from 2003-2019 (and eleven straight EIWA titles in that time).  Yes, I know "Ivy League" is not strictly a conference, not having a conference tournament.

It would be nice to see OU get back to national prominence. They have a few studs on their roster that could help out. How long have Kish and crew been at the helm?

Kish only has 1 year at the helm. Unfortunately he lost his 2 best wrestlers from last year to other teams and both of them were there before he got there. None of *his* guys have produced yet. As started though he's had only 1 year at helm. He seems to have a plan to shape the team his way. Hopefully we start to see some success from it. He does deserve some grace and praying he delivers!

Quick glance at his roster...these names stuck out to me as qualifiers or better....

Beric Jordan - 125

Schwartz - 141

McDougald - 157

Picklo -165

Sax - 174

Honestly, they have a fairly decent dual team top to bottom, but just lake the high end firepower. If Cleveland Belton can make the pull to 133 successfully, he should be a NQ. Deanthony Parker should be NQ at 184. Bradley Hill could be NQ at 197 and if Mora beat out Heindselman then he should be NQ at HWT.

Sneak 1-2 on podium and start getting a few more high level recruits looking your way? That’s the ticket!

Who has the best 3rd place dynasty?

Easy... not you! 😏

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

And Northern Iowa at one time won something like 23 straight Western Wrestling Conference/League/Region titles.  So, that looks like a Dynasty to me.
