It’s ok to use your privilege when it suits you huh? Admitting it doesn’t mean shit.  You still used it.  You knowingly did it while others are being oppressed.  Welcome to the bigot brigade.

What was my unrecognized privilege again? I'll give you a pat on the back if you can even explain the concept let alone make any sense of your comment.

The last thing I want or need is a pat on the back from the likes of you.  You’d have to earn that.

Please explain the difference? When you can't/won't because there is no difference, I'll accept your defeat and 6-8 oz of tears. Sweet sweet tears!

You’re too ignorant to see what’s right there.  Carry on babble boy.

Minimum wage was designed to provide the lowest wage necessary to provide food and shelter for a full time employee.  No amount of revisionist history will change that.  Now obviously the federal minimum wage has not kept pace with cost of living and a few municipalities have attempted to offset, but again have fallen way short.

Why encourage hard work and self-responsibility...just keep giving people "free" money and raising minimum wage...that fixes everything!!

Do you think people that work for minimum wage don't work hard?

Or do not take responsibility for their situation?

Can you still struggle to survive while having the ideal qualities that others might use to make leaps forward in their earning trajectory?

Does that make them less deserving of help to make their situation better?

If someone at the age of 18 finds themselves on their own, should a minimum wage job likely one of few they qualify for, offer enough money so as to not need other government assistance?

Free money? Is it 'free money' if billionaires use tax shelters to keep money that should otherwise be paid in taxes? And do you have the same opinion that something is 'fixed' by them holding on to it?

Do you think people that work for minimum wage don't work hard? Did I say that...no...why is it always about making someone a victim?

Or do not take responsibility for their situation?  Again, did I say that...no.  Teaching people to work hard and self-responsibility is what the focus should be.  Not overinflating minimum wage for industries and jobs that were never meant to be a career choice and the only way to make a living.  This is a bigger conversation around how businesses are run and the economics around it.

Can you still struggle to survive while having the ideal qualities that others might use to make leaps forward in their earning trajectory?  Have no idea what you are asking here.  I merely think society should focus on building good work ethics and self-responsibility in our youths...not overinflating wages for certain jobs and hence overinflating prices.

Does that make them less deserving of help to make their situation better? Again, quit trying to make someone a victim

If someone at the age of 18 finds themselves on their own, should a minimum wage job likely one of few they qualify for, offer enough money so as to not need other government assistance?  Depends on the job.  Fast food should not have a $20/hr minimum wage.  If someone is unfortunate enough to not be able to qualify for a higher level and paying job, then that is a whole other conversation.

Free money? Is it 'free money' if billionaires use tax shelters to keep money that should otherwise be paid in taxes? And do you have the same opinion that something is 'fixed' by them holding on to it?  Here's a secrete....there is no such thing as free money no matter how bad you want to make billionaires out to be the boogeyman.  Your third question, again I have no idea what they heck you are saying and asking.

Sigh...I know I shouldn't do this but I did...responses in red.

Thanks for your feedback. My answers in Blue!

Do you think people that work for minimum wage don't work hard? Did I say that...no...why is it always about making someone a victim?  You brought up ‘victims’. So you agree they do work hard. So why say it because they already do?

Or do not take responsibility for their situation?  Again, did I say that...no.  Teaching people to work hard and self-responsibility is what the focus should be.  Not overinflating minimum wage for industries and jobs that were never meant to be a career choice and the only way to make a living.  This is a bigger conversation around how businesses are run and the economics around it.  Agreed, but why shouldn’t/couldn’t this be a career choice? Can a worker not become an owner? It might be that conversations like this and opinions like this are things that paint an unrealistic picture of fast food work. That some think lesser of the work and in so create a cultural bias towards the job and those that seek it. They are thought of as lesser so it doesn’t hurt to much to keep them from making a decent living earning enough to get out of the untouchable occupation. Also, that you make a general statement to start this conversation then say, ‘its part of a bigger conversation’ hinting that there is nuance to these situations and probably shouldn’t be painted with such a broad brush.

What I am saying is that if a person has a good work ethic but cannot get above the poverty line for one reason or another are they less deserving of assistance?

Its not an either or kind of thing. One doesn’t necessarily lead to the other. Companies have engaged in price gouging. Driving up prices while it was needed for production then keeping them high to squeeze more profits while inflation has dropped. Is that practice ethical, moral, or worthy of celebration?

Does that make them less deserving of help to make their situation better? Again, quit trying to make someone a victim. Please explain how my question frames it that way?

If someone at the age of 18 finds themselves on their own, should a minimum wage job likely one of few they qualify for, offer enough money so as to not need other government assistance?  Depends on the job.  Fast food should not have a $20/hr minimum wage.  If someone is unfortunate enough to not be able to qualify for a higher level and paying job, then that is a whole other conversation. So, ‘I don’t feel fast food deserves $20/hour(Fast food should not have a $20/hr minimum wage.)’ By your metric, these people are less than and therefore do not deserve enough money to allow them a life they can enjoy. Took a while to get here but glad we finally did. You have no good reason you just don’t like them. Glad someone finally said it out loud.

You just don’t want to give help to people you feel are beneath you? Billionaires are, mistakenly, celebrated and admired in our culture so its fine if they get handouts. That is a pretty sick way of thinking. But not unsurprising. Thank for attempting to answer my questions. Its been enlightening.

@ThreePointTakedownSince you just can't help yourself from going down stupid rabbit holes and continually insinuating things about people and want to find the boogeyman in everything, I'll try one more time...I'll type slow...no need to read into anything I write other than what the words say.

I feel society will get a lot further in terms of people making enough to live if we focus on teaching hard work and self-accountability MORE....versus jacking up wages unnecessarily which in the end teaches people nothing and drives up costs of products and services.

By the way, about 80% of fast food workers are high school/college age kids who are not looking to make a career out of it.  That says nothing, or insinuates anything about someone who does want to make a career out of it. SMH

If we pay $20 per hour to every person involved in the making of a Big Mac, the full supply chain, grain farmers, flour producers, bakers, livestock farmers, meat producers, vegetable farmers for lettuce tomatoes, sauces, transportation of ingredients, packaging of the final product…how much would it cost?

There are dozens of worker classes involved in the making of a “Big Mac” that must be furious at the liberal disruption of the chain at the retail labor end point.

“Oh but those big corporation billionaires!”

Some poor souls would be a lot safer and happier if they leave the cooking to someone else.
