Michigan, mind you this is without any 'new' transfers in.
125 - Cannon
133 - Ragusin
141 - Lemley
149 - Gilcher
157 - Mantanona/Mattin
165 - Mantanona
174 - Amine/Walker
184 - Bullock/Rogers
197 - Waters/Rogers
285 - Jenkins
Wish list:
- Gilcher (Indiana), 157
- Hamiti (Wisconsin), 165/174
- Cardenas (Cornell), 197
- Pindrickson (Air Force), 285
I think 125 ends up not being Cannon (or Ragusin) and Ragusin ends up using a redshirt or him/Cannon got 133/141 and Lemley uses a redshirt.  One of them at 125lbs is wishful thinking.  It'll be Horvath or Wertanen by committee.

I’m a little surprised Rylan Rogers has had trouble establishing himself. I liked him a lot in high school. Still time I suppose.

Also, isn’t Joel Adams at Michigan or did I imagine that?

!

I forgot about Adams!

I am not sure who between him or Gilcher could man 157, then with the other going to other route.  Adams is giving 67 KG a go for Greco, which is 147.7lbs.  I suppose he could do a proper redshirt, but I think between those four (little Mantanona and Mattin) they should be manning 149/157.  I suppose if Adams is 'small' enough he could go 141lbs and allow Lemley to redshirt, but I don't want any redshirts unless folks are injured and need it (see Cannon).  In today's transfer world you don't know if/when you'll be able to start, especially at a school like Michigan.

As far as Rogers?  I think it is less he couldn't establish himself and more Bullock made a huge leap this last offseason.  He would have been right there as far as expected output as where Bullock was, so that is a wash for me.  He doesn't have trouble with the weight... Bullock just got huge and went big-brother on him.

I would defer to your insight, but I can’t see how Adams would make 141 for a whole season.  I can’t see Gilcher up at 157.  Not sure who wins between the two considering Adams basically had a year away from folk and Gilcher had mixed results and that is generous.  It is possible Adams could fill out to 157 by now—but not sure I see Gilcher succeeding up at 157 with his frame.

I agree with you.

I am also hoping we might see the older Gilcher brother in the portal and on the way to wrestle with his brother for his final year, next year.  That would be cool to see.

Between Gilcher, Adams, both Mantanona’s, and Cam Catrabone in 2024 it did always seem like Michigan was going to have too much of a log jam at 149-165. It’ll be even worse if Lemley can’t hold 141 but I’m sure he can for at least another year or two.

I think Lemley will be fine at 141.

Catrabone seems like a 157/165 to me.  I haven’t seen little Mantanona recently so not sure.  But with Catrabone’s Dad an alum, Adams on board for the greco at CK, Gilcher a local boy and Mantanona’s brother on the roster—none seem likely to transfer.  The logjam may be up in the air long term.

Beau Mantanona will be quite a change of pace for UM fans—crazy!  😆

Yeah I wasn’t necessarily implying transfers, just saying there’ll be some interesting lineups moving forward. They’re set up really nicely if one or two of those recruits don’t live up to their ranking or grow more than expected.

I think Mantanona has Oly aspirations, so I imagine he will want to be 165 or 174 for 74 KG.

I hope Lewan can find solace in knowing that he had a more successful career than ~99%+ NCAA D1 wrestlers can claim.  I am hoping Hamiti coming in (hopefully) can get Amine to open up a bit.  Not sure who goes 174lbs there between the two.

I would not be shocked if he ends up at 184 he is really think but has a huge frame

125- Spratley

133- Hughes

141- Jamison

149- Williams

157- Saldate/Travis

165- Hamiti

174- Brayden thompson

184- Plott

197- Surber/Cody Merill

285- Carroll (I hope) Doucet

if the freshman can make some good jumps in level with another off season + weights losing guys this seems like a pretty dangerous team

I don't think he can beat Bullock right now.  Give him a couple years to grow in to it?  Sure, maybe.

He does have a redshirt to use and abuse, if he so wishes.

Doesn’t sound like Sammy is coming back , the nerve damage is affecting his leg pretty bad and I don’t think Sasso leaves Virginia tech unless he thinks Stewart is moving up and he can’t beat him

Yes, that could also become reality. Its not a stretch.

Two are Frosh at other colleges and extremely happy.

Two are injured and done.

One has been wrestling 132 and 138.

The moat realistic one is the true frosh dropping ~10lbs.

125 - Kilkeary
133 - Bouzakis
141 - Mendez
149 - Sasso - he's coming back, maybe late December, but he's coming
157 - Cannon - could see Blaze in a package deal with his younger brother
165 - Kharchla
174 - Welsh
184 - Rogotzke
197 - Geog/Potential transfer, but unlikely
285 - Feldman

This lineup will score points at nationals and is likely to have multiple finalists.

@Idaho@CraigOR - what do you guys think for the Beavers?

125: Maximo Renteria

133: Gabe Whisenhunt

141: Cleveland Belton

149: Nash Singleton

157: CJ Hamblin / Murphy Menke / Dagen Condomitti / Ayden Garver

165: Kekana Fouret

174: Matthew Olguin

184: Trey Munoz

197: Justin Rademacher

285: Aden Attao

157 seems like it could use a bit of a boost.  but otherwise quite solid.  I hope we see Attao next year

That's pretty close I think, but definitely a few question marks. Excited about Renteria  entering the lineup as well as how Attao will transition. Yeah, 157 will be a battle between a few guys.  I would probably put Noah Tolentino in there at 149 with Singleton. He was the starter this year  and was injured in one of the first duals. Singleton was the 2nd 141 who bumped up and won that spot. Was really happy with how Rademacher performed as a true freshman. Went from getting hammered by Stemmet to beating him twice at the end. As with any team, the off-season work will be crucial. I am also interested to see what happens with the portal. Last year OSUW brought in McDermott and Wittlake.
