Yonger 1 seed

Recommended Posts

I saw Nomad tweeting that Yonger will be spit out as the 1 seed and based on this season alone and no previous factors I agree with that. He made the point that you cannot feel that Greg should be 1 and Crookham should also be 1 over Daton given that Daton has the historical excellence on his side, but Crookham has the better wins this year, which is the same case as Yonger Greg. I just wanted to see your guys thoughts the 1 seed at both weights seems large given the 2 will likely get Vito at 133 and Wyatt at heavy.

Yes. Guys should be rewarded for wrestling full seasons … and consequences for those who don’t

They have comparable results , Bastida has like 9 more matches but Kerk bonused the Eiwa champ twice , beat the ACC champ , beat the big 10 runner up 2x, beat Davison and teched Wyatt at at the all star in like 4 minutes (the guy Bastida needed a last minute takedown to beat, they may not count the all star but coaches won’t forget that performance

Kerk is a bad dude, so is Yonger. That will be one helluva finals match, IMO

I believe they are on 2 different levels , just look at their comparable results

I think it comes down to the 10,000ths of RPI.

If the wrestlestat RPI is the same as the RPI used by the NCAA (and I think it is), then Yonger gets the top seed based on his RPI of 0.7427 vs Kerkvliet's 0.7422.

Head to Head - Push,

Quality Wins -Bastida has more quality wins (13 vs 10) - so either 20/0 or 15/5 - not clear when they do 15/5,

Coaches' Rank - Kerkvliet 15/0

Conference Finish - Push

Common Opponents - Push

Win % - Push

RPI - Bastida 10/0

So Bastida outpoints Kerkvliet by either 5 or 15 (depending on how QW is split), all because of a loss by an opponents opponent somewhere down the line.

Drowning in data, but thirsting for knowledge

Younger beat #3 Wyatt (his only loss), #4, Colton (his only loss), and #5 Elam (his only 2 losses).

Kerk's hasn't wrestled any of them this year and is ranked above Younger because he stated the year there as the highest returning placer.

If the regular season matters, then Younger should be the #1 seed.

Kerk has been a bit more dominant than Bastida this year. That, plus being an unbeaten Big 10 champ,  is enough to make him the #1 seed.  It shouldn't matter to Bastida where he's seeded since he's already beaten the likely #3 and #4 seeds.

It always amazes me how well the pumped up 197 pounders do against the real big boys. I think Kerk might be a bit too athletic for Bastida to exploit his quickness against.

Yonger has beaten 3,4,5(x2),6,8,10,11,12,17

Greg 6,7(x2),8(x2),13 (Hendrickson in the all star which does not count towards seeding) which I agree is dumb

I dont really agree those are comparable resumes if you just take into account this season.

Bonus rate 73% Greg 71% yonger

The B12 was the better conference at 285.

It probably doesn't matter to Younger where he is seeded, that is not the topic.  There will be 330 wrestlers in KC in 2 weeks that don't care where they are seeded.

My guess is a lot of them do, but many will say that they don't.  I've heard some all-time greats talk about bracket placement.

This has been discussed here by some really wise fans. They concluded that true heavyweights are the following:

1. Great

2. Big

3. Fat guys

I would like to add that these guys also “eat all the food”. So we’re left with very athletic 197 pounders vs. great big fat guys who eat all the food. Easy to see how even a back up 197 pounder could beat a top 10 heavyweight.

I wrestled back in the days of unlimited HWT in HS. I remember watching the finals of a tournament where one guy weighed 440 pounds, and the other one was a svelte 375 pounds, and neither was remotely close to being what's known as "athletic". Young punks today have no idea of what HWT used to be.

I would like Yonger to be seeded 1st and have Feldman 4th or 5th.

Kerk smashed Wyatt earlier this year. You must have missed it.

I would love for Feldman to be on Yongers side of the bracket. Yonger should win but I think it will be close.

It was an exhibition and does not count for seeding.   This is a topic on seeding, you must of missed it.

I know it doesn't count but everyone knows it happened.  So yes Kerk smashed Wyatt. Kerk will get the number one seed but I hope he gets the number 2 seed.
