Braeden Davis lost

I'm a huge Penn State homer but even I can admit Davis was taken down and probably gave up 2 back points in the final session.  That was DEFINITELY home cooking there for Davis.

The refs felt that there was no control so they counted danger but it didn't make the count.  Doesn't really matter what we think but I can see both sides.  If it had been ruled a takedown they probably wouldn't have overturned it.  Just is what it is sometimes.

Not really.  I can understand not calling it in real time.  But there’s no way that shouldn’t have been overturned on replay.

I’m not a Penn St fan by any measure but a win is a win.

A takedown is a takedown... that win stinks.

.. and since when are you not a penn state fan? you are tbar from the old forum... no?

I probably would have called it a takedown but it's easy to say that from my living room.  Like I said, they stayed with the call on the mat because they felt it didn't meet criteria for danger takedown.  I have never been a referee, I didn't know what the training for that situation looks like.  We can read the rule book but there is always a bit of room to interpret situations like that.

That’s why I said I can understand not calling it in real time.  But with instant replay and 2 refs, there is no excuse for not calling that a TD.  It wasn’t a danger takedown, it was a regular takedown, and probably nearfall.

Is there any recourse to have a NCAA purview of the referee's in the Penn State match. Specifically the 125 match. I would say 95 percent of college referees get that call right without any video review.  I would say with the video review it would be 99.5 percent of the referee's would get that call right. It was without a doubt takedown 3 points and 2 points for backs and it isn't even close.

Official PSU wrestling x/twitter account just trolling us all…

They think it's cute to do that but the amount of trash calls their program gets because cael is sitting in the corner is outrageous. Every year at ncaa some great wrestlers get completely screwed by refs so these blue singlets can advance another round. And im not suggesting it's intentional but I am suggesting it's undeniable.

Especially with Angel as the assistant I thought for sure it would get overturned.  He usually likes to make his presence known.

At the latest (probably earlier), it’s a TD when Davis goes into the bridge.  TV clock was still showing 2 seconds at that point, there’s really no argument for it not to be a TD unless the match clock was more than 2 seconds off, and even that is a weak argument.

I wouldn’t say they get a lot of “trash” calls, although I’d put this one in that category.  I’d agree they do seem to get a lot of calls that could go either way that end up going their way though.  The interesting part to me about that is that Cael rarely even argues.  Maybe some of the other coaches should take note…

Yes the other coaches should take note of how being considered the best wrestler in American history and running the current dynasty garners favoritism from the fan boy or intimidated refs.

They get a lot of trash calls. They get dang near ALL the 50/50 calls. Your Cael is quiet logical fallacy isn't worth attention.
