Key takeaways:

Rivera is going to have a bad time if he makes it to the semis because Tumur Ocho is him

Bajrang could play bracket buster as the 8 seed if he is healed up. He gets Iran then Musukaev and we know who's going to win the second period of that match

Taylor and Yazdani are on opposite sides of the bracket thank god

Top of 125 has Taha and Zare, bottom has Geno. I want to see Gable drawn into the top half wreaking havoc smashing all three of them. Time to put this Zare conversation to bed for good.

It feels like wherever Russia gets randomly drawn in will instantly become the tougher side of that bracket at every weight but 125.

How is Taylor seeded 7 and Amine seeded 4?   Being WC last year doesn't mean too much I guess.   But in this case, Taylor is still the bad draw.

Correct, it doesn't mean too much but is enough to get you a 7 seed. That's why they have rankings tournaments throughout the year. If you don't go to the rankings tournaments then you drop in seeding.

Being WC at the weight gets him SOME points, but apparently counts less than winning the Grand Prix of BFE and Eastern Southwestern Turkmenistan Open.

I get that UWW wants to incentivize wrestling at their events but this way results in non-medalist wrestlers getting seeded into positions that make it easier to medal.

All rankings tournaments are published months in advance. All competitors are aware of the seeding implications. It is their decision to either chase points or not.

Yes, this is correct and I understand it.   My understanding is that taking 1st gives you so many points towards seeding for the next WC.   The seeding tourneys don't provide near that much.   Just seems odd to drop that much.   I see this on UWW website regarding seeding system:

Still just seems weird but I guess I can see how it works.   Taylor did not go to the 2022 Pan Ams.   He didn't go to seeding tourneys.   So I guess that is what happens.

Why does it seem odd? Why should a person be rewarded for not competing for a calendar year? Would you give someone with a 0-0 record the #1 seed at NCAAs? How is this any different?

Micic is going 61 KG, so he won't be seeded.

Finesilver has dropped to 86 KG so that moves Valencia up to #6 (which is opposite the Irani) and forfeits any placement points he does have meaning he will be drawn in.

To add, David Taylor exhibits the mindset of a champion: "I don't care where I am in the bracket because I'm going to win the whole f'ing thing."

I often have to remind people that it's generally not the top guys that get "screwed" by bad seeding. Normally, it's the other guys who have to face that guy early on.

Right.  At the end of the day whoever has to face the guys who lose to to the eventual champion the very next round have the bad draws and the bad draw is the eventual WC, regardless of seeding.

Someone is going to be a medal favorite but they are going to get drawn into a combo of Russian + another medal favorite the following round. IMO senior worlds is a much tougher road to medal than an Olympic medal when it comes to day-of competition in my mind. The sheer number of matches in each bracket + random draws, like Taylor/Yazdani round 1 in 2018, is absolutely nuts.
