There are a lot of tough dudes walking around DI, some more scary than others. Limiting ourselves to the last decade or so and excluding guys who turned MMA and actually proved their mettle, who would it be best to avoid in a street fight. I'm really interested in unlikely candidates and stories. Best entry gets a prize of zero dollars.

Gents that have short fuses.  They are going to try to throw hands first and ask questions later.

Most of the high end successful guys have a gentle demeanor about them.  They have learned respect and humility to be one of their primary traits.

Running in to a short-fused dipshit who things they are King Badass would be worse.  Five years ago that someone was Blue Dragons Jr.  Hell that kid used to go looking for college frat boys to beat on when he was a high school kid.

For me, personally, right now?  It is opposite.

Despite my young age, I am in excellent shape and until I ended up taking this consultant job here in CT I was practicing BJJ 3-5x a week.  We had our MMA sessions as well as wrestling sessions as well.  So I am a pretty confident guy.  A guy like Blue Dragons Jr is out of my weight category.  I am not putting on 15-20lbs of functional weight for a fight - or a street fight.  Roll around on a mat?  Sure.  Let's do it.  Guys like Baylor Fernandez, though?  I would love to have him come to my gym.  He gives me coward vibes.

Back to the original question.  Who would I not want to see in a street fight right now?  Trent HIdlay.  All day.  I wouldn't have a head to put on top of my shoulders if he hits me with one of those clubs.  The fact that I would be concerned with the impending doom of that club coming would make it so I was vulnerable every where else.  I am farely certain I couldn't take him down without collecting a lunch box or two on the way in and he is absolutely bigger and stronger than me.  Weight classes exist for a reason and we are going to see a brute of a 197lber out of him this next season.

Word. Short fuses are dangerous in the sense that folks who hang around with them are more likely to need lawyers at some point. Doesn't necessarily mean they can fight (though I suspect your first candidate might).

Re Hidlay: yeah.

Not a current D1 wrestler, dipshit.  Good try, though (not).

I second the Trent Hidlay mention.

Here are a few other current NCAA wrestlers that I think would be tough in a street fight:

Zac Braunagel, Tony Cassioppi, Levi Haines

Well, I'm certainly not asking for 100 million freaking dollars. Uh, I really just want an apology and uh, for them to change Mongolian beef to sexual predator beef. I also wouldn't mind my face on their dollar, but that's more of, like a bargaining chip.

Not Greg Kervliet. He would take you down then just lay on you waiting on someone to give him the signal to get back up.

Carter Starocci all day long.

What are you afraid of?  Him hooking that ankle and just sitting on top of you?

Zain?

"That's messed up, man!". -Zain to Berger after being headbutted.

I don't get the impression that Zain would be one to lose his cool.

Thing about Starocci is that he has a special kind of crazy. The kind where he'd throw down in a street fight and hold a steady grudge against you and everyone you know until he felt like you were sufficiently pulverized. Gilman strikes me as another type like that, but he's a shrimp and is nowhere near the level of crazy/scary as Starocci.

What's the verdict on Baylor Fernandes? Dude who you'd want to avoid in a street fight, or dude who needs to get in a street fight?

1000% dude so needs to get in a street fight.

I have heard various stories, most happened 20 years ago of Brandon Eggum kicking peoples asses big time. One story was at a beach and he chased the guy down, the guy lost his sandle and Eggum swooped it and beat him over the head with it when on the ground. Another was at a local pub with 2 other guys and he starts beating a guys ass. The other guys crew was much larger and not a single one of his friends stepped in, they just watched Eggum kick his ass. He has been out with Brock Lesnar before and he is the one getting into the fight.

I am sure age and being a dad he has toned it down a bit.

I know a few streets I can direct him to.

I might have said Gilman before I saw how nonathletic he looked playing dodge ball.  I would have no issue throwing down with that guy right now.

Nothing like the dreaded Egg-roll move in a street fight!

Who would be the GOAT street fighter of 125 lbers?

Stevo Poulin

Did you not see his hype videos from when he was seven?  They scared me.

Wrestling is not a sport involving the striking arts, perhaps a few clubs excluded.  Wrestlers are intended to be peacemakers!  What's so funny about peace, love, and understanding?   I think Gable Steveson would excell at peacemaking! Kerkvliet as well!
