I do not know him personally and do not generally pull for wrestlers from Iowa schools, but I will feel pretty good for him if he wins NCAA's this year.  A lot of fun to watch with his pace and toughness. Hope he stays healthy.

I am all for this.  I feel bad for Lujan.  He was set up nicely to win 2020s.

That would have been cool to see UNI have three NCAA champs at 184 in a 5/6 year span.

I would also be heavily interested in seeing him and Voelker swap weights after Brooks/Hidlay and a few others clear out of 197.  It will give Voelker a year of adjusting to get to 184 with him actively competing with him.

He was the #1 seed last year and didn't come close to winning it despite making the finals.  I don't see him getting a more favorable seed and draw than last year, unfortunately.  Seems like a great kid though.

Brooks and Hidlay cleared out. He will open the season as the favorite in what looks to be one of the weakest weight classes next year (along with 125).

The last NCAAs that he competed at with the incoming consensus #2 he split matches with him.  He is not a runaway favorite.

Unless someone emerges (fingers crossed its Bennett Berge) it looks like tier 1 will be Keck, Truax and Munoz.

I was also thinking a healthy, full-grown Munoz contends.

He also has 185lb MMA aspirations.  I am wondering if (when) he will go 197lbs.

But the favorite none the less.

You already fight enough people on the OSU, tOSU, OSUW stuffs.  Let us have this one.

Bernie Truax will be at 184 this year now or is he taking Kerk's spot?

The last time they were both at 184 they split matches.  6-5/6-4.

Last year Truax wrestled drastically undersized and still beat the defending NC at NCAAs.

How do you not consider him on the same level as PK?

Agree.... a healthy Munoz will be in the hunt.... He lost to Truax his freshman year by major, then lost two close 2 and 3 point matches...then pinned him in the finals of the Pac-12 tournament that year.  The semis with PK was close until the injury that put him on crutches the rest of the tourney. Munoz gets noticeably better each year.  This has been your Trey Munoz PSA.

touche. Truax is right there with him (as been proven). forgot about him back at 184.

so i guess Keck isn't a heavy favorite, but he's THE favorite imo. I'd pick him rn. wouldn't you?

He is a safe pick, yes.  He has been more consistent than Truax I think.

I likely would pick him.

If all things were ending right now, PK, BT, and TM were all undefeated I imagine that PK is the 1 seed.  That means he skips out on the bottom semi-final.
