Which US-based wrestlers should compete for Mexico? Personally I'd like to see Zahid rock the green, white, and red. (I assume he could become eligible because his brother competed for Mexico.) Not that RBY is afraid of that, but for him with high aspirations, why beat your body up for a possible world championships or Olympics, when you can focus on training for the rest of the world, not just getting through a grueling trials process.

Expand Russians, yes it happens a lot. But for Americans, I don’t recall a guy who has a good shot at being the US rep going to another country. Expand Franklin Gómez and Jaime Espinal both spent time in the states, both competed for Puerto Rico, and both won world-level silver medals.

mspart Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 Perhaps, but it makes my point that all of those folks could probably make it to the Olympics if they were to wrestle for Mexico. staying with the US is most likely not their best option, including Zahid. He couldn't make 86, and wouldn't have mde 92 with Cox there. He will not be able to go to 97 and beat Snyder so he is kind of out of options. Unless he improves greatly. mspart
