In his Barstool interview Lee said he hasn't even wrestled since NCAAs, that he wasn't healthy right now, and that 2024 is is focus while also saying that he always plans to compete just that sometimes health holds a higher priority.

All signs point to him not wrestling at the 2023 US Open later this month.

Idk about that for sure. The 2023 US open has pretty big implications for his main goal of an Olympic gold. It seemed like he is planning to compete but not sure if he is ready yet. If he’s even somewhat healthy, I think he will give it a go

I hope you're right.  I believe he is our best option, provided he is healthy.

Does that mean he evolved in Greco or he just had a "hard year" at college?

I suppose both can exist separate and together at the same time and all three options would be true.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Some quality gents from IU add to the depth of a few weight classes...

So if Starocci doesn't show up does that mean Donnell punked him out as in now the new three time defending D1 174lb NCAA Champion?

Curious to see if he was in the game enough to get some of that WWE-bod stuff going on.

@Mike Parrish, I don't think she'll be a problem in a couple if weeks... looks a big heavier than 53 KG...

Spencer Lee has entered the US Open at 57kg

Until he steps on the mat to wrestle, I don't know man.  I hope he wrestles.

Anyone care to take a stab as to how some of these weights will be seeded for Senior Men's Freestyle?

What is the seeding criteria here?

Keep in mind seeding doesn't take into account Folkstyle results and they typically have put a two year time threshold for results.  That would lend one to believe that Spencer Lee may be drawn in and not seeded.

I would think Spencer will have to fight his way to the finals.  It may not be an easy road for him but easy roads are for wusses.    I have always felt that you need to be of the mindset that you are the bad draw.   Therefore, Lee is the bad draw no matter where he is seeded or not if he has that mental outlook.

Now, being the bad draw never worked for me.   I guess my mindset on the mat was not that strong.   But the idea works.   I tried to wrestle that way but I was never all that good.   But I learned a lot doing it.

Not the US Open but perhaps a precursor - Blades and Welker set to wrestle a best of three at women's U20s today.

Did you see Mortimer bounce Shilson's head off the mat (twice) from a front headlock yesterday. She was out for some time.

Yeah.  Unfortunately for Shilson she has a history of concussions.  The jury is out that Mortimer did it intentionally or not.  @Mike Parrish, might know better?

Mortimer is still wrestling U20s as well last I looked.

She banged her off the mat intentionally. I don't believe she was trying to can her.
