Per the OP in this, Consi-Semis and 7th place matches.

I imagine the '9th' place brackets will be wrestled to completion here, too.

OK, so Steen lost his 9 place match.  Could someone who understands NCAA tournament scoring tell me it the following is correct?

Assume Steen can't beat anybody in his bracket, and won't score any points for PSU.  Is PSU better off with him not in the tournament, since some competing team could score bonus on him, or gets some points in a pigtail match?

Gents,

After the first round in the 9th place brackets they reseed so the highest seed remaining (in that bracket) faces the lowest seed remaining (in that bracket).  That is why some of them look off.

So is that thread closed then? There was still so much to say!

Did Burwick lose his first match in the 9th place tournament?  Track says it was him vs Norris but then put Porter in the winner line

Yes Norris beat him

It baffles me that both Lamont and Dow, both of Wisconsin, look like they don't know or understand the concept if NCAA Collegiate Folkstyle wrestling.  At all.

Do the 9th place tourney matches even count for the team score?

Regardless, in theory you’re probably correct, but that’d be a pretty crappy thing for a coach to do.  “I don’t think you’re going to win any matches, so I would rather not allow another team to get a couple points”

I am still blown away that Bono even spoke to Lamont!

I was more just hoping we didn't have to read any more pages about Burwickk but thanks.

I don't think these 9th place matches count for point in the B10 tournament.  My interest is really in looking forward to Nationals.

Agreed that losing on purpose would be pretty crappy, but I'm just asking "theoretically" as to what the impact would be on the team scores.
