Also, and this is not a small detail, u23s was in vegas, the amount of wear and tear bassett experience to participate was a lot lower than if it'd been in some far flung location. The days of travel (a few hours vs days), awkwardness of the weight cut, and just overall stressfulness is tiers below. I doubt bassett goes if he has to go to eastern europe, probably would have just waited for seniors.

My initial thought on this was that it seems super unnecessary 4 days out from comepeting but I imagine he derives a lot of mental confidence by workouts like these.

And it’s mostly body/low weight stuff…I just thought it was funny given the timing of this thread.

I want the best for Bo - he is a great ambassador.  I have questions about VT and that video did not help any.  If that was the right way to get ready for worlds, everyone would be doing it!

i've never seen a post that relied on the reader to assume its meaning so much. Giant amounts of clarification please.

Valid points.

That stuff isn't going to wear him out.  He is 20 and in amazing shape.  Not sure when it was filmed but it is all very light stuff that gets him breaking a sweat.  The stance and motion stuff looked the most tiring, but I would hope he is capable of recovering from that!

Huh?  I would think doing that would be less taxing than say, wrestling a bunch of live (although maybe he’s doing that too)

1 - I really like Bo and all that he does for his faith and the sport.
2 - The video reminded me of Mike Grey pushing Yanni before some big competition that I can't remember.  Both videos just felt off.  I hope I'm wrong and Bo goes out and wins seniors and nationals!

Snyder really cut to make 97. I think he was a HWY the whole time, normally I would transition to trashing tOSU for this mistake, but I think this call was only very obvious after seeing how effective he was a hwy....

No, he is a 97kg. But that weight class shouldn't exist because midgets might get their feelings hurt if they can't be 5th string in the room.

Training through U23s to peak for senior worlds. Makes sense to me.

This was my thought as well. It's a big nothing-burger.

you're almost certainly wrong. I don't even know what about that video makes you think that workout was not appropriate. I know we're in the era where they just play dodgeball but even suriano had to drill that one time.

... but how'd that work out?  😉

Well obviousl Cunningham stepped in and said "No more wrestling ever" just saying it was even controversial at PSU at one point.

If someone thinks that is crazy, let me tell you about the stuff we used to do to cut weight back in the 80s+90s with night before weigh-ins...

... and back in the day ... pistols at dawn!
