Just finished S2:E1 of Stilly Boys. It's honestly just unbelievable. Behind the scenes access to the program and the documentary style series is, if nothing else, just a joy to watch. I remember coming up and desperately trying to find wrestling content to consume. This often led to watching Vision Quest because there wasn't much else out there. This is just a shout out to how cool it is for DT and the program to put such a professional quality content out for free. Will any other coaches be willing to admit that it's a great idea and recruiting tool and follow suit? Which teams would you actually be interested/willing to sit down and watch a series on?

And before @ionel says it.. Yes, the PSU dodgeball doc would be legendary. 🫡

I have never watched this show, but it gets a ton of mileage on this forum (for obvious reasons). Typically not a huge show person for whatever reason (I crush movies but mentally struggle with the hurdle of shows with multiple episodes and seasons)...What about this is so great and illuminating? My uninformed speculation is that it's a bunch of episodes with clips of wrestling and practice, random short interviews with people, etc. Is there much to this beyond a docuseries that allows us wrestling content in the same vein as other sports get with 30 for 30 and behind the scenes crap on ESPN and stuff? Or is there wrestling to be watched? Curious if the draw here is that there is so little content that this is novel and interesting, or if there is actually some quality info and insight here regarding OkSU?

Regardless, happy that content like this is out there and exists and that season 2 is underway as well. Good for the sport in any form, hopefully it pulls in some randoms

I view it through the lens of an OSU wrestling fan, so I can't speak to people who don't care about OSU. I've learned so much about the team throughout the series. To me, it's just not clips from wrestling practice and boring interviews. You see a lot about how DT approaches leadership and also the team dynamic. I think a great example is Swiderski. I was lukewarm on the program bringing him in, especially after his early-season struggles. StillBoys has shown how integral he was to the team's leadership and specifically the development of Vega. There were also some real candid moments with Dee and how he handled the failure of NCAAs. They also go to all the senior-level stuff, and I feel like that is just content that is not out there.

Again, not sure how interesting it is to non-OSU fans but for OSU fans it has been extremely informative about the type of program DT is trying to build.

stilly boys is very good content. Its obviouly propoganda but thats fine....one of the things pushing me towards OSU, despite a lot of resservations.

Where can this be watched?  YouTube?  I've seen clips on social media but not sure where to find the full episodes

Have you seen any of the films on FLO or are you not interested?

https://www.flowrestling.org/films?playing=10870233

I've watched just about every Flo film. I don't even know how many times I watched the Kolat series back in the day. I watched all of the Young Bucks (both iterations). I really enjoyed the Young Bucks series and always wished there was more content like that to watch. The fact the Stilly Boys comes out with more consistent content closer to when the subject matter actually takes place is a massive upgrade over the Young Bucks series though. Am I making it up or did the most recent Young Bucks follow the 2022-2023 season and not come out until the Fall leading up to the following season?

I believe that's pretty close.👍

yeah i see your point, but you're not a little grated by the "HAPPY FUN TIME" vibe that the videos waterboard you with? If they took some of that out and added a tiny bit of the dirty backstage it would be considerably better....if it was fully transparent it would be the most compelling content in media but obviously thats a pipe dream.

Don't you dare pull me anywhere near that toxic hell-hole of a thread.  Though, reading it every few days when I'm bored is not that much different than walking into the living room to find my wife watching Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.. It's trashy, but it is entertaining. 🫣 It feels good to stay out of the fray.

I have only watched videos in "The Climb" series, plus one or two others. I wouldn't say that I've noticed anything too egregious in those videos. They show a lot of frustrating and hard moments, and honestly other than a few gags here and there during warm-ups or during travel, I don't recall a lot of "happy fun time" vibes.

I did see that they have a summer cookout and a pickleball tournament video that I didn't have any interest in, so maybe it's just the content that I'm watching.

I tend to care a lot more about the in the room stuff, I'd encourage you to watch that (despite my earlier quibbles)

I read this earlier and thought "this guy is allergic to entertainment." Then I was watching the Tyson documentary on Netflix and saw the Spinx walkout and remember loving the middle-finger-to-showbusiness of it all: No robe, no "song," no hype-man. Just the most menacing man on the planet.

... so I wonder how long it's gonna take before the Cowboy media blitz turns glitz and revolting. How long before I hate this sh*t?

Edit: I mean cowboy hats? C'mon.

Re Raney vs Raney vid: My step-dad left my mom shortly after our coach staged an exhibition between my step-brother and me. We were in 7th grade, and Coach made us wrestle before a Wednesday night hs dual. Packed house.

Idk somebody was gonna be pissed in the morning.

I was never a cowboy fan before.  I am definitely a fan now after watching these videos.  David Taylor is an incredible coach and dethrones penn state this year.  You can write it down.

Good for you, first I thought we'd be inundated with cowboy shills but it turns out we're all so abused by PSU that Rawdog is the only one with the balls to put a stake in the ground.

I agree it’s be cool for more teams to do it.

Virginia Tech has done a couple.  Interestingly this one with Bassett is in the top 25 view counts already for VT Athletics’ entire page (including football etc) and it was just posted 8 days ago):

Kelly Dunnigan (formerly UPenn, now Rutgers) has built up a little following on YouTube as well.
