Increase the number of senators to 300. Or a smaller number, 180/60, 210/70, 240/80. Same 6 year term. 100 senate elections every two years.
Each state gets a number of senators based on population compared to the total, via the census.
Limit of 18 years in a 24 year period.

    300
States that are closest to the next integer get an extra senator until there are 300 total.

If rules are the same, filibuster and what not, what would be the pros and cons of this system?

Should Puerto Rico, DC, Samoa, other protectorates, become states or at least get official reps and senators with voting privileges?

And once again....

Why not cut to the chase and just let NYC run the country?

But pretty sure if we do and disband the Constitution we will see some new Republics pop up.

I kinda like this idea, but if I may add one addition, lets change the name too.  Senate sounds so Roman Empire-ish.  We could call it, oh I don't know, I'm just spit balling here, something like......The House of Representatives.  Something like that.

There are at least 14 states with few House Reps.   Those states will not vote to give NYC more power than it already has, so a constitutional amendment is out of the question from that standpoint.  3/4 of the states must pass the proposal and that is 38 states.

States with 1 Rep - AK, WY, ND, SD, DE, VT    That's 6

States with 2 reps - HI, ID, MT, WV, RI, NH, ME   That's  7

States with 3 reps -  NM, NE   That's 2

States with 4 reps - NV, UT, KS, IA, AR, MS  That's 6

So the total is 21 states with very few reps who would not be in favor of eliminating the Senate, because it would give them way less say in the government.

Why not go to a straight democracy?  Everyone has a cell phone.  The entire country population, illegals included, can vote directly on every bill.  Now you might ask who is going to write the legislation?  Well we have AI so AI can write the bills.  Should we keep the President?  Sure but only in autopen form.  This new system will also mean no need for state boundaries they will be abolished.  In fact all current and past laws, regulations, taxes etc will be abolished.  We will restart from nothing.  Everything will be decided by popular vote via you smart phone.

Because the Founders said not to go that route.   Plus it is not a good idea.   But neither is socialism/communism but everyone seems to think it will be done right this time.   How's that working for y'all in NYC and Seattle?   I've heard the NYC council is mad at zambini and all of Seattle is mad at Katie.

Would that be any different than letting NYC decide everything?

It seems like a few smart guys could get together and come up with a complete plan, that if followed, would serve to create the best place, ever.

We’re already the best nation on earth.  Our poor are the richest poor people on earth.   This is the best country ever invented.  People will find a way to hate anything that is successful / good.   It’s jealousy tbh.

After 250 years, people will hate it and think it is the worst plan ever, until they do a new plan where everyone's rights are taken away.   Then they'll think, maybe the old way wasn't so bad.   Too late by then pal.

Like, you can vote your way into socialism, but you have to shoot your way out of it?

Perhaps there is one thing our founding fathers did not consider when forming our republic.  They probably figured that folks would elect others who were smarter and better informed to represent them.  Perhaps they should have added (or we could have amended later) a requirement that those representatives have higher IQ than the average of folks they represent.  Now we probably can't total blame them as the IQ test did not yet exist although the founders could surely recognize the danger of folk acting as representatives who had no clue what was going on.  It seems more and more we are electing reps with intelligence way below the average of the congressional district or state.  Maybe an IQ qualifying level just to be on the primary ballot?

It is like that.   In the case of USSR and Iron Curtain, they collapsed because the USA outspent them.   They couldn't keep up.

I was in a Sunday School Class for teens and the instructor mentioned East and West Germany.   I stopped the class and asked if the kids knew what that meant.   None of them did.   They have no idea about the communism that ruled Eastern Europe and much of Asia before it collapsed.   It is not taught anymore in school.   No wonder these idiots think it might be great.   They have no understanding of what it does and how it does it.

The promise of socialism is that all will be equal.   Only when implemented do the people realize that that means everyone is now poor and has nothing and no means to acquire anything.   That's they utopia these idiots want.   Oh but it wasn't done correctly before.    That's because it has to be enforced by the end of the barrel of a gun to keep eveyrone in line and walls have to be erected to keep anyone from escaping.   The Berlin wall was not put there to keep West Berliners out.   It was to keep East Berliners in.   But that isn't taught anymore.   No wonder the kids are idiots.

It’s almost like the liberal teachers are doing this on purpose.   Weird.  Right.

Educators have no business being political.  Education has no business pushing kids to a political ideology.  Just teach reading writing and arithmetic and move on

Folks should visit:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Terror

along with others.  We did a trip to Prague, Bratislava, Budapest ... when kids were college age.  My recollection is it was interesting the revolt against USSR in most of those countries was mostly by young 20/30 year olds.  We seem to be seeing the opposite from many young over here.  Spending some time in those basement cells in Budapest might wake up some folks to a representative govt with checks and balances a good thing.
