To be fair, Hidlay-Macchiavello was not a delay.

So ... was the wedding delayed?  🤔

I was listening to this whole discussion on Flo earlier. I think Christian was trying to say was either both wrestlers or no wrestlers should be able to ask for the delay. The medalist already got a huge advantage by getting to sit out until Final X, and giving them a chance to delay is an additional advantage that seems unwarranted. Once you make it to Final X, all things should be equal. The challenger went through the gauntlet to get there and earned that equality.

That being said, it was thrown out there that USAW should raise the bar for what qualifies as a serious enough injury to warrant a delay. That’s a losing position on its face. It would require USAW to either call out wrestlers as fakers and/or force injured wrestlers to compete after asking for a delay. That wouldn’t go over well with anyone, and would open up USAW to liability.

There is another way to go, which keeps delays available and limits them through the wrestler’s own measured choice. Give both wrestlers the ability to delay, but, if they choose this route, they must win the first two matches of the series to get the spot. If the wrestler who delays loses his first match, the series is done. If the wrestler wins the first, then loses the second, the series done. Basically, by delaying, the wrestler spots his opponent a win.

*** this is about the broadcast, step back from the guillotine***

Regardless of a delay, it was a poor showing (ratings and entertainment wise) of our beloved sport. There were more officials than spectators. I actually was looking for some sophomore practicing free throws during the first match, that may have been more entertaining. Perhaps a darkened room and a spotlight might have made it look less like a high school alumni match.

This situation happened because USAW had to change the date of the wrestling event after the wedding event date was planned. And I believe the wedding date was planned based on the original Final X date,

Also, I think all are technically delays.  They could just wrestle them at WTT.

Kyle Dake will not stand for this!

I was typing in my phone and an ad popped up, then the reply was automatically pushed through only half typed. The same happened on my first edit attempt. What a piece of crap experience.

Then don't complain about the small crowd?

That's why I wrote the post about the broadcast.

Whatever it is, it didn't prevent her from being at RAF and being at matside filming the fracas with her phone. She was pretty close to the action.

To be fair, she was scheduled to defend her belt at RAF 09 and withdrew due to injury a solid month before.

I had a significant shoulder injury last year.  If a brawl broke out, I would have been moving in the other direction.  I didn't even want to be near a crowd.  She was practically right up against the elevated mat and filming the brawl on Saturday night.

I wasn’t even thinking about the brawl.

Shoulders suck. I had surgery in March, and it’s been the most miserable recovery ever.

Somehow, I avoided surgery.  I have a third degree separation with an inch or so displacement.  Ortho said I have decent strength, flexibility, and lack of pain- why bother with surgery?

Two PTs I have seen socially cannot believe I didn't go under the knife just based on appearance.

I put mine off for years, then I ruptured my LH bicep tendon, so it was time to get it all cleaned up and screwed back together.
