I highly doubt any of the people that supported his campaign (and there were some high profile ones, which leads me to believe there really weren’t widely spread rumors) knew about the allegations earlier, or else they wouldn’t have supported him. Because if he won the nomination then the Republicans may have been able to dig it up and that’d be handing the race to them.
