That kind of drama is what brings casuals to the sport. Stop being a whiny bitch. Perverted sense of right and wrong LOL

"That kind of drama" is what brings plenty of morons to a spectacle.

It's just like WWE pretending to be real pro wrestling rather than admitting they are a silly show.

Marketable - except for one thing... it's not "Real", yet that is the 1st word of the name.

It's a lie, from the first word.

Dancing monkeys can be sold as "Real" wrestling... buy it or not. Either way, they'll still be dancing monkeys.

They have no faith in wrestling standing on its own. No self respecting sports league would have booked Arman vs Georgio 2. In all leagues, that aren't money grab garbage, competitiors who disregard the rules and act unsportsmanlike to the point of  brawling are suspended, banned, or fined. Rewarding them with a main event is disgusting.

On top of that it's so incredible transparently not about wrestling. The match is booked for one single click bait reason. It's NOT a title rematch, it's NOT for a number 1 contender slot (as far as I can tell RAF doesn't even have rankings, more proof it's just slop and not a sport a league), the match itself was not controversial (the right guy won). It's booked solely for the "will they won't they" throw hands again after the whistle. It flys in the face of everything wrestling stands for.

On top of that, the co main is two washed up loud mouths one of which is not a wrestler. Imagine booking these two matches and touting them over Dake vs Keck and Snyder for Taz... Willie also floated wanting Brooks the cheater in the league. It's just a gross joke top to bottom.

I hope Willie, Bishoff cookie, Askren, and the others involved see this. They can clutch their pearls and pretend they're trying to grow wrestling while dragging it through the mud with this pure crap style booking for money. And what's crazy is they have been a saying how RAF is exceeding expectations since like the second or third show. Which if that's true why stoop to this kind of cash grab off bad behavior? Why not focus on good wrestling if you were finding success with it? Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I agree with your sentiment, but I also think you're being too idealistic. If what you're after is a product that focuses on highly competitive matches and great wrestling, RAF will have a bit of that here and there, but overall, that is not what you're going to get (at least right now). RAF is what it is, and at the end of the day, it is their promotion and they can do whatever they see as the most sustainable to keep things going, especially as a promotion still in it's infancy.

UFC started out as a freakshow with no weight classes and far fewer rules, but look where it is now. If viewership is up because of the nonsense, then it may introduce some outsiders to the sport and help bring up sustained viewership where those tactics aren't necessary in the future.

If the options are..

A. Create a pure product for the diehard wrestling fan and have it fold just like every other attempt has

or

B. Lean into the clickbait and guys with big followings in order to generate interest in what you're showing in order to have a longer runway to grow the brand and build the product

Which option makes more sense? You might argue that there is option C but given the fact that it's the world's oldest sport and it hasn't happened yet, that doesn't seem likely.

If you're not a fan of what they're doing (I'm not either) then don't watch, it's that simple. There is no need to be this upset that RAF isn't running their organization like you want them to. No one is making you watch, and wrestlers are making some extra money while the organization stays afloat.

I tuned into the first one, and seeing half the athletes out of competition shape and the other half be effortless techs didn't entice me to tune in again. If the product changes, I'll be back. But as for now, it's not for me.

People already tried making wrestling professional, it's called the WWE today. Doesn't mean it has to happen that way every time, but it's hard to run a prizefighting model on a points based - grappling only ruleset.

LOL seethe and cry harder. Their match now has more interest than any match in RAF history. You are wrong and proud. Thats funny.

What is your argument exactly? I never claimed it wasn't popular. What are YOU claiming? That because something is popular it must be good?

Good news for you then, I used many different adjectives to describe this rematch and RAF. Also I don't know that you can call it irony but I did also use some humor from slop, to bishoff cookie, to thank you for your attention to this matter. The post while serious uses several modern phrases in a manner meant to be funny.

But hey your post was stupid anyway. "I no like word, I no listen" truly you're a beacon of intelligent coversation.

Good post and I agree with basically all of it. I've said it before and will say it again. Im fine with some freak show, im fine with some spectacle. I'd rather it be less than more but that's not my main gripe.

I held my tongue until they  booked Arman vs Georgio 2. To me it's a bridge too far. They are outright rewarding guys for breaking rules and disrespecting the sport which to me means now RAF is disrespecting the sport. The organization is rewarding basically the worst possible behavior from its athletes. Punches after the whistle and all out brawl gets you a main event in RAF, not punishment. They went from being silly to being bad for wrestling when they booked this match in my opinion and I no longer have any interest in their product.

That pretty much sums it up. The hardcore wrestling fan is not their target audience. There’s just not enough of us to make it profitable. I’d rather watch the Zagreb Open than RAF, but I bet the viewership shows I’m in the vast minority. I get wanting to keep the sport pure and appreciate it for what it is, but unfortunately, that just doesn’t sell. I hope it succeeds and I think they have the right ideas to do it (other than all the old, out of shape guys lol).

I Googled Arman vs Georgio and there’s a ton of media hype of the match (fight). The headlines and chosen photos look a lot like MMA, but there’s no striking. Is the massive MMA audience interested in that? MMA fighters in a wrestler’s environment? Could be huge but not for the wrestling purist.

Moving goal posts already. Now it has to be every month. Most sports have a season. CLAW and CWA both have seasons. Im not sure of PWL schedule. All have top tier wrestlers.

I’m not moving anything im telling you why I like RAF .. I didn’t know anything about CLAW and CWL… they have world and Olympic champs , medalists and ncaa champs wrestle in that league ? RAF has Carr salkazanov Kadimagomedov dake zahid nolf nickal hidlay Tazhudinov sadulaev and a bunch of others .. which is why I like it … who does claw have that is that elite ? Probably nobody since I’ve never heard of it but since you think RAF sucks and bring up CLAW I’m sure you’ll tell me who they have

Is this true? WWE/WWF actually has a freestyle/folk style background?

Yes, pro wrestling more or less stemmed from fans getting bored of matches that would be two guys grappling for over an hour with the same guy winning all the time. To counter this they started working moves that had more excitement and predetermining a winner since the same guys were winning all the time.

Here are the rosters for the season CLAW just had:

Cradle City Cicadas (GM Cayden Henschel): Ethan Rotondo (134), Tristan Moran (145), Zain Retherford/Tommy Askey (157), Peter Pappas (170), CJ Brucki (184), Dakota Geer (199), Demetrius Thomas (275).

Kaos (GM Georgio Poullas): Tyler Warner (134), Allan Hart/Brandon Wright (145), Josh Heil (157), Jarrett Jacques (170), Noel Torres (184), Mike Macchiavello (199), Cary Miller (275).

Mat Kings (GM Billy Baldwin/Scotti Sentes): Brian Courtney (134), Zack Donathan (145), Jonathan Millner (157), Kendall Coleman (170), Muhamed McBryde (184), Marcus Coleman/Caleb Hopkins (199), Matt Stencel (275).

Enforcers (FFF League): Caleb Smith (134), John Erneste/Shannon Hanna (145), Reece Humphrey (157), Peyton Hall (170), Jeremiah Kent (184), Chris Foca (199), Zane Lanham (275).

Hammers (GM Anthony Robles): Kyle Burwick/Alonzo Allen (134), [Vacant] (145), Ian Parker (157), Brock Mauller (170), Lennox Wolak/Scott Joll (184), Nate Jackson (199), Sam Schuyler (275).

Leopards (GM Angelo Ferrari): Eric Barnett (134), Mosha Schwartz/Zach Sherman (145), Max Murin (157), John Vanbrill (170), Kennedy Monday (184), Luke Surber (199), Zach Elam (275).

CLAW is not perfect either but they aren't spitting in the eye of wrestling culture the way RAF is.
