Some bold predictions ...  I know there was a whole post on Ono but are there any reports about how he is coming along in the room? Also Ono was a 61KG internationally so why not 133 ... or is this well known?

I doubt Blaze RS…. Wouldn’t he wait till the Olympic year?

No idea what they’ll do but he can do both. He can take a RS at some point and still has an Olympic redshirt available.

I'd think the same applies to Duke too!!

Maybe PJ jumps to 174 to fill the Haines gap!

125 - LL

133 - Ono/Blaze/Desmond

141 - Ono/Blaze/Desmond/Davis

149 - SVN

157 - Kasak (Duke RS)

165 - MM

174 - Henckel

184 - Welsh

197 - Barr

285 - Mirasola

I wouldn’t be surprised if Blaze took a RS on his way to 141 or even 149. Duke RS on his way up to 165/174 has kinda been the plan all along. Where Ono slots in will be interesting, along with what they do with Blaze and Desmond. Davis, if he’s still around, will maybe finally get to take the RS he’s been trying to take for 3 yrs now. Lots of depth, all the incoming kids should RS I’d think.

I’d take the over on an O/U of 6.5 NCAA Finalists.

I’d take the under, but that’s still a good number.

Where’s Jimmy Cinnabon been? One of his threads but haven’t seen him in a minute…

What ever you do... don't say his name three times in a row.

He'll appear just like Michael Keaton!

(Then, you can't get rid of him!!! 😏 )

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

The Cinnabon-ster, apparently,

hasn't been seen of since April 25th (last post.)

133 Ono  (Blaze sits)

141 Desmond

149 SVN

157 Sealey  (Kasak out)

165 Mesenbrink (James and Duke sit)

174 Henkel

184 Welsh

197 Barr

HWT Mirasola

Not best for wrestlers but extends best team another year. Cael has got to get 16 before he retires.

5 for 5 passes. Be hard for Duke, Blaze and James to sit, knowing they lose a year...

But I have heard before they even come to PSU. Team first. Doesn't make sense to sit them but Cael is chasing Gable and needs one more cycle to get it done. James and the next 4 teams could be his last all time great one. Then he retires young and will be tapped the GOAT over all of wrestling.

Depending on how you feel about Ono, I think this would be the "best" team. Could also switch Duke/MM, but Duke looks like he has the strength for 174, and Haines made the 2 weight class jump, so why not PJ? You could make the argument that everyone of these guys could make the final save HWY. Not saying I believe it, but you could make the argument.

Five for five is going to be the law of the land in a few weeks, barring something absolutely crazy happening.

I think Mesenbrink not wrestling at trials points to him moving to 174. He can let himself grow without having to focus on conditioning and making 74kg in late October. Right now, the guy to beat at 174 is Minto, who Mesenbrink likely techs. It’s quite possible

I really don’t see James not being in the lineup, nor does anyone who watched him wrestle last weekend. He was light at WTT, and he looks like he could make 157, which lets Duke move to 165. Both are title contenders, if not outright favorites, at those respective weights.

Kasak takes the year to get his head straight with a med redshirt and comes back at 157 in 2027-28, letting James go up to 165 and Duke continue to grow into 174 (or take an Olympic Redshirt).

If there was ever a year where PSU’s bench could win the NCAAs, it will be this year.
