  9. https://komonews.com/news/local/religious-group-protest-seattle-mayor-harrell-comments-at-city-hall-rally-mayday-usa-event-seattle-rally-counter-protest-cal-anderson-park-arrests-police# 8 arrested at counterprotest, religious group rally outside Seattle City Hall by KOMO News Staff Tue, May 27th 2025 at 5:28 AM Updated Wed, May 28th 2025 at 6:24 PM SEATTLE — Eight people were arrested during what police described as “dueling demonstrations” in downtown Seattle on Tuesday. A religious group protested outside Seattle City Hall on Tuesday following a weekend of unrest at Cal Anderson Park. The group spoke out against what they describe as religious bigotry, specifically targeting comments made by Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell. The protest comes after a clash at the park on Saturday, where 23 protesters were arrested. The incident began when LGBTQ protesters attempted to disrupt a rally held by the Christian pro-life group Mayday USA. The situation escalated, prompting Seattle police to call for assistance from the Washington State Patrol. Some of the protesters who were arrested -- all accused of assaulting police officers -- have since been released. Seattle police said eight people were arrested for assault at the "First Amendment event" outside City Hall. No major injuries were reported. "Two opposing groups gathered along 4th Avenue," wrote the SPD in a media release. "Streets around the dueling demonstrations were shut down for several hours but reopened just before 8 p.m." Counter-protesters said they believed the messaging at the religious rally on Saturday and on the steps of City Hall on Tuesday was hateful. "It has nothing to do with religion," Plymouth Church Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Kelle Brown said. "It has everything to do with bigotry and discrimination and bias and hate, and they have subverted it in the name of God." Lead Pastor Russell Johnson, who was behind Tuesday’s rally and was present at Saturday’s protest, said he expected hundreds of people from all walks of life to gather to demand an apology from the mayor. "This is a group that loves the Lord and all people," one evangelical man told KOMO News about the large counter-protest. "We might not support what people do, but we love all people," another man told KOMO News. Harrell referred to Mayday USA as "a right-wing organization" that "intended to provoke a reaction" by promoting its beliefs in the city's prominent LGBTQ neighborhood. Both Mayday USA and the counter-protesters have criticized the city's handling of the protest. "We had attempted to do the event at another place, and they rejected that and directed us to Cal Anderson," said Johnson. No word on charges yet. Some have been released, but not sure if that is on their own recognizance or let go and not charged. mspart
  10. It was insanely funny. But... "I was high on the Raneys until they didn't pick Iowa" is an insanely stupid take.
  11. Never back up when you can go forward.
  12. Chapel Hill: if we sniff the tiniest hint of trouble we will move on from a top recruit before classes even begin. It's all about program culture around here Happy Valley: if you don't give a fvck about drug testing we welcome you with open arms
  13. This morning, we learned that the University of North Carolina has denied admission to 2021 NCAA champion AJ Ferrari. Last month, an article in the Daily Tar Heel mentioned some of Ferrari’s past legal troubles and this reportedly led the UNC athletic department to reconsider his case. Ferrari spent the 2024-25 campaign at CSU Bakersfield and finished the year with a 22-1 record and was third in the nation. Shortly after the NCAA Tournament, Ferrari entered the transfer portal and selected North Carolina as his next destination. Since Ferrari was in the portal this year, there is the thought that he’ll be able to transfer again. The question arises as the portal closed for the year on May 2nd and the only loopholes are if there’s a head coaching change or for a graduate student. We’ll have more information about this situation and Ferrari’s status as it develops.
  14. I am going to go out on a limb and say that one person did not cause this entire sequence of events. The person quoted may be the face of the anti-Focus movement on campus, but no way is she the only reason. Use your noggins folks, don't go down the Minnow rabbit hole. Actually, let me correct myself. One person did cause this entire sequence of events: AJ Ferrari. Actions have consequences and they can last a very, very long time both positive and negative.
  15. The best way to protest these situations is to ignore the rally. The church goers stayed in the bounds of their permit. Just ignore them like they are not there. Then they go away. Antifa has a lot to learn. However, what I think they have learned is that there will be very little justice served to them. I doubt that they will be charged with anything of note. mspart

  17. Attended a National Sales meeting a couple decades ago where the speaker spent quite a bit of time discussing how 10% of life is what happens to you and the other 90% is how you react to it.
  18. I agree that the Gazans cannot simply vote them out. But a ruler only has power as long as those ruled over give that power. The power ulitmately rest with the people. There is no doubt in my mind that if Hamas were eliminated and the Gazans could vote again, they would vote for whoever said they would get rid of Israel. It is how they have been educated for the last several generations. mspart
  19. I can confirm the connection of the girl quoted in the article to a UNC alumnus now part of THWC. I was today years old when I learned straight couples use the term “partner”
  20. As you support Hamas in their venture to do just that.
  21. Some say trying durian is something everyone should do. I disagree. Some people regard the durian as having a pleasantly sweet fragrance, whereas others find the aroma overpowering and unpleasant. The persistence of its strong odour, which may linger for several days, has led some hotels and public transportation services in Southeast Asia, such as in Singapore and Bangkok, to ban the fruit. I have walked by a fruit market in KL and there was pretty strong odor that was not pleasant. I assumed that was the durian fruit. mspart
  22. The Bad Guy referenced this website in his appearance. After making a 69 reference the Flo guys laugh and Sonnen says "We're giggling over 69? Okay, he said 69!! What is this Intermat? You guys can't take a joke?" Spey: "Nice" Sonnen: " Remember when they were a thing. Do you remember that? It was like intermat wrestle backslash wrestling .org and something would come up." Sonnen then continues some story about the 1969 World team.
