I'd put Parco at a MUCH lower grade. C+/B- area. Gassing out is part of wrestling. Especially against SVN, where his gas tank is one of his weapons and has a history of gassing out Parco (I.e. 2023 All-Star Classic). However, I would still consider him a title contender because you don't know how brackets will work out. I think SVN is the only one out of the top 3 (Lovett & Henson) that he can't beat. Teemer I'd put around the same C+/B- area. Almost no offense, defense was suspect, couldn't ride. Looked for peterson roll majority of his time on bottom. That being said, I'd still consider him a title threat given the makeup of the weight. I only see Kasak or Shapiro as having the necessary skill set to beat him, even if Teemer wrestles poorly.

Getting to legs to avoid stall calls is different than getting to legs to score.

We all know Flo's rankings (both HS & college) are a joke and have been since Willie left. Intermat for College and MatScouts for HS are the most reliable.

I see 1 guaranteed AA. That leaves a lot of things having to go right, or near perfect, to bring home a trophy. I also find it hard to believe Hawks makes 174.

Oh absolutely. That excerpt was in no way a shot at the current state of SDSU. More so just a defense of Bono's time at SDSU.

Actually at SDSU I think he did a pretty damn good job of it. In 2017 they finished 16th as a team, and had two AA's (one of which was a finalist and the other was Alex Kocer, who was unseeded). In 2018 they finished 12th as a team, had 3 AA's (one of which was a champ and the others were Luke Zilverberg, who was 13 seed, and David Kocer, who was 11 seed) and one bloodround finisher. Putting guys like the Kocer bros on the podium is the name of this thread. Pretty damn good run for a mid-major imo.

In the category of 'who does this at this current moment', I agree with Schwab, Kolat, Erisman, Hahn, Ward, Bentley, and Santoro. I'd also add Scott Moore (Lock Haven). In the category of 'who has shown the ability of being able to do this in the past but built their program into a state where they are now getting top recruits', I'd put Brian Smith, Koll, and Dresser.

In the beginning, yes I would agree. Now, however, Mizzou consistently pull in top recruits (Mendoza, KOT, Rath, etc.).

I'm in same boat. Mine will be 10 months in March, so I'm able to make it work. But was unsure for awhile.

I give him a legitimate 1% chance.

But may deter some upper-middle weight recruits from going there with a national finalist with 3 years of eligibility remaining.

From a fan standpoint, NCAA wrestling has far more fans than UWW and USAW. I know there's a lot of variables there, but that is simply a fact. I'm a diehard wrestling fan (all styles), just like most of us on this forum, I've been to 8 straight NCAAs, never been to a single US Open/World Team Trials/Final X/World Championships/etc. I'm not saying the weight classes is the reason for this, obviously. But I'm not sure being like UWW or USAW would be a good thing for NCAA wrestling.

I give Haines the slightest of edges. Not because of the freestyle results, however. But because of Penn State's history in big matches. If it's a true toss up, those matches almost always go their way (especially in the NCAA finals).

Looks like a lot of 'bathroom/concessions' weights to me.

We sure he can beat Gallagher out for the spot? I'm not dogging on Sasso in any way. Rooting for him as much as the next guy. But let's be honest, his best win is Derek Fields (who's ranked #38 by WS) and he has not looked like his old self at any point this season.

You may be right. It'll be interesting to see. Yep. Duke stays 157 and beats Kasak in year 2. SVN stays at 149. That's my guess. Good point. Hadn't thought of that. That kicks in 2024-2025. Bubba and Suriano did not transfer out due to roster issues, which was the whole original discussion. Yes I mentioned Beard, Nevills, and Barraclough but Beard was the only AA at the time of leaving.
