Great match, great win. Sounds like a typical Trump-tard, but on this evening, I won't hold it against him.

184 is the most anticipated bout, but probably not the best one for the casual viewer. This could be a 2-0 match, or a similar low-scoring affair that lacks any firepower. I doubt the average sports fan will get hooked on wrestling from watching this bout.

Likewise. I also feel like McEnelly had the better shot at beating Carter in the finals, if he could have made it there.

AJ can quit the Jesus act now.

Philly - The details we all need to know

Great suggestion. Cool place to visit. There used to be a good restaurant/bar right across the street from it, too...not sure if it's still there. Another unique place to visit is the Mutter Museum in Rittenhouse Square. It's explores the history of medicine, and is filled with some really strange stuff...if you want to see a massive diseased colon, or an enormous preserved testicle, this play has got you covered. -
He's pretty short (5' 5") to move up too much in weight. His long arms offset the lack of height a bit, but he's going to be a really short 74kg if he chooses that weight.

I think you just described my entire life in one sentence.

Should NCAA wrestling adopt all or some freestyle rules?
WrestleFan12 replied to peanut's topic in International Wrestling
If you were in a fight, who would you rather be on top of - a freestyler who can't spell reversal or escape, or a folkstyler? -
He’s much better without Cormier at his side.

WrestleFan12 replied to peanut's topic in International Wrestling
Folkstyle has been the basis for USA wrestling for more than a century, and Americans have enjoyed international success during that time. The 'blame-it-on-folkstyle' sentiment seems more like a handy excuse when the USA has a poor tournament. -
Japan got to Dake’s leg at will.

Based on the t-shirt, PSU has to be the frontrunner for landing Bo.

Don’t forget Jim Thorpe. A couple of Olympic gold medals (decathlon and pentathlon), and played professionally in three sports in the United States (baseball, football, and basketball). He also considered playing professional hockey, but that never panned out. At 6 feet 1 and 200 pounds, he was a solidly built athlete. Thorpe is currently in the NFL Hall of Fame.

Gable was given a workout yesterday by the Buffalo Bills. Maybe the NFL is in his future?

Brooks, you are the most annoying and piss-poor post-match interviewee of all time. Absolutely no insight whatsoever. -
How does Fix outdo his riveting semifinals win?
WrestleFan12 replied to Mr. PeanutButter's topic in College Wrestling
I like Fix, but he's worn out his welcome in college wrestling. Kind of like Max Dean. -
2024 NCAA Championships - Session 4 (Friday Evening)

God's Warrior just got hammered. Praise Be. -
I was just going to ask about Greg D. He's been out of HS for four years. For a five-time HS state champion, his college career has been underwhelming. Was hoping that he would be a starter this year.
-
Right, he was great against Yianni. But a couple of weeks before that he got thumped by Paniro Johnson, and shortly after the Yianni match, Gomez nearly got decked by a freshman. Then, Gomez was getting thrashed by Sasso, only to make a dramatic comeback for the win. Gomez is a bit all over the map. He definitely does not bring his A-game to every match.
-
Gomez is also inconsistent. He can be great one match, and then be much more ordinary in the next. I have doubts that he can put together a full run at NCAAs to claim a title.

A short-fused guy who doesn't know how to fight can be taken out in seconds. Be more afraid of a measured opponent who knows how to fight. Or, forget about 'fuses' altogether, and worry about who is skilled at fighting and who is not. Otherwise, the moron with the least self-control would be the baddest man on the planet.

new 3 point takedown....get ready to see tons of tech falls?
WrestleFan12 replied to Bardamu911's topic in College Wrestling
It's hard to believe that any garden-variety takedown is now the scoring equivalent (or greater) of putting another wrestler on his back for the required count. One is considerably harder than the other. This rule change is just silly, IMO. Thumbs down. -
At the South Beach duals a few years back, Koll was asked in an interview what's it like to coach Yianni. He responded that Yianni was the easiest kid to coach - he hands him over to Mike Grey for coaching, and doesn't have to worry anymore about it. So yeah, Koll delegates to his assistants.
-
Seems like a 3-point takedown de-values mat wrestling. This rule change is good for takedown artists, and for blowing matches open. Pretty soon this is going to be freestyle with these rule changes...takedowns, and get them back to their feet quickly.
