  1. It's a good promotion opportunity for mid-major programs at home for sure. I was wondering if they get paid when they take a road dual with a big program. In football and basketball (especially football) small programs generate a lot of revenue by scheduling away games with power 5 teams even though they get beaten badly. But it may be different in non-revenue sports like wrestling.
  2. Do programs make money by scheduling nonconference road duals that are not home and homes?
  3. I modestly propose...
  4. Huh? In soccer the stoppage time gets added to the match clock after the time expires (and the teams don't know exactly how much time is added, so the half could end suddenly at any time which is exciting. But longer periods and matches in wrestling would be the point. The replay stoppage time clock would work as a deterrent. It also takes away the idea of using challenges as lung timeouts.
  5. Point taken
  6. 6 champs sounds like a stretch. I am expecting PSU to win 2 or 3 weights though they have a habit of pulling off some tournament magic every year. Of course that article pumps up PSU's chances, it was a puff piece written for the Penn State fan blog and not a real SI sports writer.
  7. PSU won't break the record.
  8. But I think RBY and Fix are stronger
  9. I was thinking more like he hasn't been pushing himself or trying very hard in most of his matches. Same with RBY. Vito I think could outscramble RBY and Fix, and he has a little bit of a height advantage that could be problematic. I just don't know if he has the horsepower.
  10. Savage Part of me thinks RBY or Fix will get what's coming to them at NCAAs for not going hard 100% this season, but that's probably not happening.
  11. I really enjoyed the Max Dean exciting last regular season match era.
  12. ESPN pays the NCAA to broadcast Nationals. They have a contract for exclusive media rights of the D1 wrestling tournament. I can't recall if the wrestling deal is bundled with the broadcast rights for other NCAA sports. BIG+ and Pac12 Network money goes to the conferecnces. Flo money probably goes to Flo, idk.
  13. Maybe ADS taught Lee that cartwheel. Fortunately he didn't finish with a Kimura on Witcraft. Sorry, just joking. Go Hawks
  14. Would be ideal for Zeke if Ysa could cut to 133 but he doesn't look so small at 141 right now.
  15. Thanks all, I will look into the bundle deal. I am just annoyed because I already pay for ESPN on TV and the ESPN3 coverage was free. Plus this would be another streaming subscription to add to our list. The added revenue ESPN+ pulls in doesn't go to NCAA Wrestling, I don't think. Can't tell if ESPN+ would mean more money for the sport in the future, or if ESPN wants to squeeze every last penny out of wrestling fans before moving on. Doesn't the NCAA Tournament deal expire at the end of next season?
  16. Courtney needs to learn to finish his shots!
  17. Nice job by Cal Poly. I'd like to see Truax do some damage at Nationals. Fun fact: you don't have to by poly to go to Cal Poly
  18. Well, that sucks. I have ESPN but it looks like I will need to pay for an ESPN+ subscription to see any of the matches before the finals. Thanks for the info.
  19. Is it true that ESPN won't be airing all mats of the NCAA Tournament on ESPN3 anymore? I heard that whatever is not shown on the main ESPN channel will only be available to ESPN+ subscribers.
  20. What's the story with Mastrogiovanni? Is he done for the season? MRS?
  21. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  22. Some witchcraft from Witcraft. It didn't work.
  23. IIRC Fix got the stall call for holding ankles past the 5 count and the action was stopped because it looked like it would have ended in a stalemate. Teske later held ankles past 5 but the referee let the action continue because he was almost out for the escape. I remember one the officials called for the riding time clock to be stopped after Teske's stall warning.
  24. Carl said earlier this week that it was the wrestler's choice if they wanted to compete this week. The conference dual season is over. Clarion was just some "fun" before the Big Ten tournament.
  25. With the current Bad Knee Lee, Fix grinds out the 1st period then throws in boots and that'll be all she wrote. But give me a healthy Lee over Fix any day. Teske hung with Fix for 6 minutes until he got caught out of position in a stupid scramble.
