  1. I like Gabe, but tbf his critics wouldn't be so loud about it if it wasn't for his theatrics and trash talking
  2. As noted in another thread, Illinois advances 6 to the semis which is impressive. I think Nebraska has 5, PSU 9. tOSU has some junk in its trunk and is looking really heavy on the backside. Was not expecting that.
  3. Does Arnold beat Kennedy in the room? It will be crazy if Kennedy finishes the season with a couple of solid tournaments under his belt. I can't imagine either guy leaving Iowa but also can't imagine either being OK with not starting.
  4. I read this as Jax for a sec and nearly fell out of my seat
  5. Interesting way for Gabe to avoid Starocci. Like what is even happening here
  6. Rough day for Ol' Tommie
  7. I think they're giving each other the buddy treatment and overrespecting like they did in the dual a few weeks ago
  8. O damn, Jax Smith
  9. Nahh Manning's cool, let him cook
  10. Nice to see Teague Travis qualify for Nationals
  11. What the what now??
  12. That's an impressive list, definitely more than I was expecting. For the wrestlers who competed before say, 2000, how'd they pull off 4 schools? Feels like it hasn't been so long since the transfer rules were relaxed. Stuff like the year in residence requirement (sitting out a year at the new school), not being able to transfer intra-conference, no grad transfer rule, nonguaranteed financial aid, limited communications, and what not made it tough to compete at 2 schools while maintaining eligibility. 4 is bananas.
  13. They'd also have to qualify for the ORS
  14. I feel like 3x transfers aren't all that uncommon anymore. We'll probably see more of them going forward. Andrew Long was doing the 3 school tour before it was cool, though. ISU, PSU, Grand View.
  15. Wow, that speech, that 'stache, that 'do... I'm guessing there's a lot of cocaine in Bakersfield.
  16. Time to get the band back together again. I def wouldn't be mad if Stanford and ASU were competing out West again.
  17. After the backlash when wrestling was cut, the AD pledged to keep the sport. That's a good point about Belichick. I think about the hype Deion Sanders brought to CU and think Belichick will be an even bigger draw. I think UNC's tv market size is pretty small though compared to FSU's eyeballs in Florida and Clemson drawing viewers from Atlanta. The new ACC revenue sharing model is setting some programs up for failure, if not the conference itself.
  18. Zeke is paid pretty well and makes a lot more than Pendleton does, so there's that. ASU has a good chunk of money coming in from the CFP, but the AD seems to have had it with Bobby Hurley. It would cost around $3M to buy out Hurley's contract, plus whatever the new coach's contract will cost. ASU is trying to raise funds for a new basketball stadium and get themselves setup for pay for play; they'll also have to hire a co-GM or give the current NIL GM a raise or support staff if she's going to be managing all the other revenue sharing. Seems like money might be tight, so in the unlikely event that Zeke were to leave before his contract is up, I don't know if ASU can or would open up its wallet for a very high level replacement.
  19. Pandleton would be a pretty good deal, and likely wouldn't cost ASU much if at all. I was just thinking about this with the Bobby Hurley drama going on and all.
  20. Who ya got for 174 at NCAAs? I have Haines winning Big Tens but think (hope) Kharchla will make a deep run in Philly.
  21. Sorry, I can't hear you over the coffee grinder
  22. I never said the Big 12 wasn't big. Anyway, the two have the same number of schools for wrestling.
  23. Hey man it's a big conference, these things take time
  24. The other part of the settlement reduces the Grant of Rights penalty fees for leaving the ACC. Under the current GOR, schools would pay up to $700M to leave the conference. Starting next year, the fee will be $165M, declining annually to $75M over the next 5 years. So this sort of opens the door for more exits and further realignment.
