"I Don't Agree With What I Posted" Fantastic disclaimer and it neutralizes the opposition. I am su're you also do not agree with you'r egregious use of apostrophe's. -
Will has the Will and that is the power. Will is The man.

I like this regional idea quite a bit and then the formulaic match setups. Conferences used to be regional but have evolved to now being something quite different. As others mentioned this would require the conference tournaments to be pushed earlier a week or two. I see the possible negative effect of the conference tournaments becoming a duck/dodge fest to keep seeds for the regional tourneys but this already happens with dual meets anyway. I do (still) object to the absurdity of 33 per weight. If there ever is a change to the NCAA tournament qualification format it is a perfect time to get rid of this vestigial rattail.

When Amine and Lewan scrimmage do they just stand and look at each other for 2 hours in the Michigan room? The two most boring wrestlers to wrestle back to back in any lineup ever. Yet they both have AA'd the last two years so until the rules/referees make them change this is what they will do. I am too lazy to do the research but I believe they both have more stalling calls than takedowns in the past 2 years and especially so in their Big 10/NCAA tournament runs. Same for having more escapes than takedowns.

I had to slow my settings to keep up. He speaks at the speed of the wrestling so until I can think as fast as they can move I'll have to set .75.

Let his coach do all the "preventative" talking necessary. Maybe preventative officiating has a place in youth club wrestling but not in college where adult men are wrestling other adult men and all have been in the sport for 15 years or so. These are not children. Their peers fight wars, work on flight decks of aircraft carriers, are roughnecks on oil rigs, etc. These men can wrestle with a quiet referee quite well. I do not ever recall Chatty Cathy freestyle referees screaming out advice and counts. It is not necessary nor welcome (by me at least).
-
Mic or not does not matter. The refs don't need to be talking to the wrestlers that much at all. "Stay legal" Sheesh!
-
A bit of topic here but . . . Does anyone else wish the college refs would STFU? "Stay legal" stated over and over again is just ridiculous. Do football referees tell linemen during a play "Don't hold, don't hold"?. Are basketball refs compelled to say "Don't travel, Don't travel"? The referee theatrics are getting to be too much. Just like the other sports: If I take note of anything the referee does then he has probably failed in his primary job.

What's going on?!? I could vote only once per question!! I am from a blue state and I demand my voting right, and another voting right, and another right, until my side wins. I also want to know how many votes the other side got before I begin my voting sesssions to ensure fairness and transparency. Because, you know, that democracy thing.

I was at The Palace for that tournament and saw that match live. Incredible. Land was the number 1 seed and lived on the edge that whole tournament. He won his semi in a very controversial 3-2 win over and unseeded wrestler. Then Lang was tech'd in the finals in an incredible final (starts about minute 16). It started out looking like Land could get an early fall in the initial scramble off the whistle. The whole video is good but the point flood for Moore starts about 20:00

9 D1 level college matches in 3 days!! Amazing stamina just to walk out on the mat 9 times let alone win 8 of them.

How Fast is Arujau? Freaky Fast. He should be getting a NIL contract soon from Jimmy Johns.

Good one to take a nap through and not risk missing any action.

I agree 200% (note my hyperbole!). Lewan is a waste of my match watching time and energy and makes anyone not named Amine look like whirling dervishes.
-
Facts?!? We don't need no stinkin' facts!! We're hootin' on a dude. Hyperbole is not only acceptable but encouraged when making a point. Are you the same sort of didact who will correct someone who proclaims a sunrise to be beautiful? "Actually, it is a beautiful earthly rotation about its polar axis."

But one session can a tournament break. Yoda / Shakespearean speak provided gratis.

Lee goes for a tilt. Parris is so wide that he rolls his upper shoulder on top and over Lee thereby getting the defensive pin just moments before both his own shoulders are touching the mat on either side of Lee. Lee still wins the Hodge and deserves it for the most glorious loss ever.

What kind of tournament will it be?

Fewer schools, fewer wrestlers, more of the top wrestlers see each other (or duck!) in 2023 vs 1979. Much less variation of input resulting in less variation of output is not very surprising.. I don't think the seeders are more wise even with all of the computational power now applied to the system. I think it is a matter of tighter input variation. Also, that trend line really is pretty flat. It projects to an increase of fewer than 10 more top 8 seeds making AA over a 50 year period. Another way to say it - the seeders improved by less than 1 more AA every 4 years according to the best fit line. Take into account the standard deviation of the yearly difference around that best fit line and we are nearly at a distribution showing no discernible trend. Throw out the first decade (maybe when the seeders did get smarter and applied computer analysis) and the horizontal-ness of the line becomes even more apparent. Now, going back to the original question: I am hoping for the many upsets tournament. My favorite team is having a down year and has no chance get any team hardware so I am more interested in my low seed fantasy wrestlers from schools I don't care about winning to keep me interested clear until Saturday afternoon. -
If he is a stud then a seed of a D2 or D3 guy won't ruin his tourney. Nuff said.
