BS call...he was the one creating the action...I thought.
-
I...don't get why Rau got the passivity there or put down...but that's 1 and 4....

No, it's not a question or a debate. THOUGH...it is cool to go back and look at some of the other greats. Korbut is a more or again, Comăneci were also incredible. This is...amazing. Illegal due to the danger, but amazing. This was revolutionary. It'd been more about just ballet-themed...uh...I guess posses on the bars. You could move the bars back then so it was easier to go back and forth and you'd actually be on both at one time showing off your balance(I'm hardly an expert, just learned some of this against my will when I was younger, LOL)...but this was wild. Similar to what Biles has done with all the moves SHE has created, but Korbut changed the sport here. (Here is a better explanation of the differences and why it was banned and...a lot of shit I just don't know/didn't articulate well).
-
Well...that you don't know her name is a good starting point. That Biles has I believe 5...things named after her. What makes Jordan the better Basketball player than Russell despite Russell having more rings? The consensus. That's what. Biles does things no other Gymnast in the world has ever accomplished. Latynina isn't and hasn't been considered the greatest. Korbut or Comăneci have stronger arguments, but...pretty much all common sense. Competing in an era in which there were VERY few women competing in Gymnastics in the 50s vs the modern day is another determining factor, how long Biles has been the best in the world, the World Championships. It's kinda like comparing an Olympic Wrestler from the 1930s to Sadulaev.

N Korea vs India WFS 68kg - intentional injury
scourge165 replied to Dark Energy's topic in International Wrestling
But this is again, very different. It's the motion. It's when there's pressure in and you try and throw it by and you're turning your hips and trying and step behind and chase. In the match with the injury, the arm is trapped, there's not an attempt to throw it by or step around. It just looks like they get the overhook, the arm pinned in and they're coming up on that overhook. I admit, I slowed each down to about half speed as it's not easy to see in real-time, but it seems more obvious that way. -
Would a Brooks Yazdani match be extra spicy?

I mean... there are not many religious fanatics who AREN'T over the top...and this sport is kinda full of religious fanatics. I just struggle to get too worked up about it anymore. I thought and still think it was kinda stupid. Just totally unnecessary, but Muslims say and think the same shit, just flipped. -

I do like the overall ideology of 'don't ascribe malice to what could just as easily be incompetence,'(which I'm pretty sure isn't the actual quote, but close enough) I just don't think that's the case here. Down 8-2 and she's not turning or trying to throw it by, just looks like she's cranking on it. But I'd be nice if it was "just" incompetence. -

I can't believe Jimmy's schtick is still working. Yeah...Brooks didn't need to add that. I don't think THAT is the worst thing that's been done between Christians and Muslims in the name of Religion. It'd be nice if it were. If that was the worst things got or as far as we took it. 'Err...you said something I don't like about the Prophet...now I'm...really going to try and win an Olympic Gold.' -

I don't think it's that hard to see the difference. If you slow both down, it's pretty clear. Trying to throw it by vs getting that...overhook and trapping that elbow and bending it. She's not even trying to throw it by. Oh well...that's over, but it's really not a move or a technique. -

And what exactly is this "move?" -
Yeah, it'd be incredibly interesting despite the absurdity of it(or because of)...but we'd all definitely be tuned in. I think you'd have a LOT more people hopping on the PSU bandwagon...at least for that match.

Major Announcement In Columbus at 1p ET/ 12p CT

I'm pretty calm. If anything, a bit amused. -
If Yazdani wins, where does he stack up with Taylor...
scourge165 replied to Hammerlock3's topic in International Wrestling
I think he's got a better chance at beating Tazhudinov than Sadulaev. I know he was out of his mind at worlds last year, but Snyder just kept getting rolled through on his shots. I think if he just Wrestles a bit more conservatively, tries to grind him down... Or maybe I'm wrong and he'll affirm his WC with an OC. But, I like Snyder's chances. -

I'm really curious to see how Brooks does. I don't see him getting pushed around on the Underhook. That's a strong position for him, for DT and he shut that down(I know it's Yazdani's strength moreso than Taylor's obviously)...but I think he could match up pretty well. I like Lee, Dake, Brooks and Snyder's chances. I think this could be the most successful Olympics since...'84. Snyder needs to wrestle much smarter and more controlled on his shots and try and grind that kid down. I don't really know where Zain finishes up(maybe with a medal...I'm not very well versed on that weight). And Parris, I could see him surprising a bit as well. Not Gold, but a medal? -
Pretty sure he's not saying you can just become a great Wrestler simply because you're an Olympic Gymnast, but rather those Olympic Gymnast, had they chosen to switch it up or move over to Wrestling, they likely would have had a lot of success...at a younger age. Not by the time they're in the Olympics.

There's literally nothing better for a kid to learn basic motor skills than do those tumbling classes. My Sister was a very good Gymnast. She won some...big tournaments on the National Level, but it was a little confusing for me because she was at a lower level and she trained with a future Olympian who was younger and MUCH better...freakishly talented as a very young girl. She's still strong as hell. But on top of that, several Wrestlers I came up with were Gymnasts and they just had different athletic ability, muscle. They felt stronger without being bulkier. Those are the best athletes in the world IMO. Just balance, explosion, strength, coordination obviously. It's mind-blowing. And getting a kid into gymnastics at a younger age and then, IF they want to start Wrestling around 4th grade, that's the cheat code to me! LOL...they have that body control, they can learn good technique. I don't think you need to or should start getting too intense with your training until maybe 5th-6th grade anyway. But yeah, no better base than Gymnastics. Totally agree with that.

Your response to "give me a program with comparable resources." Damn...I don't know why, but I thought you were just a normal poster...until the "what is a leader" thread and now seeing all the others...you're just a troll and not a very good one. -
Oh...you sweet naive soul. We've got millions of people who are dumb enough to believe that one.
-
Yeah, this was rage bate. It's a crime to transition where she's from. This was presented as a Fallen Fox(which was a LONG time ago) and it wasn't anything like that. The way this was just presented as a trans-athlete was...obnoxious.

Cool

I've outlined it pretty clearly in my posts. I'm not going to be spending more energy on what I feel like is becoming an intellectually dishonest conversation at this point. You don't know what being a leader means and after I wrote all this, you concluded it was exclusively...based on what I'd written, being a good Wrestler?
-
No, I've elaborated enough, I gave you a length of traits that made a leader, you ignored it with the claim that he refused to Wrestle his main rival for the Olympics and...something about hiding an injury so Nickal(who again, did Wrestle) couldn't medal, assigning some sort of motivation beyond simply trying to heal). If you can't understand what I've said by this point, you don't want to...
-
That's one way to intentionally misinterpret what I'm saying... Remember when I specifically used Ferrari as NOT a good leader? Now...tell me if those two thoughts line up?
-
It's not much of a distinction to me. David Taylor was a better "teammate" than Leader as they had ample leadership, but it's tough to find a 2X Hodge winner, 4X finalist and one of the top ~10 greatest Wrestlers ever. I've seen no evidence he's not exceptional in both regards.
