  1. I'm just assuming Basset is going to PSU. His Cousins were going to Cornell, they flipped, they're close...apparently. Same HS. I'd go Wrestle with my Cousin if given the choice. He also works out at PSU, he's from PA...just my guess.
  2. I mean...it's Iowa, they've got quite a bit of resources themselves. They have plenty of NIL money to be able to compete. But that's beside the point. I was simply...adjusting for the scoring differences.
  3. Has anyone done the match and figured out what the team scores would be with the same scoring system? I've seen people saying PSU only broke the record because of the 3 pt TD and 4 pt NF, but...obviously the scoring is different. Advancement points were not awarded to PSU and Iowa losses(presumably) some points for placement. Off the top of my head, 6 Wrestlers made it to the finals. Advancement points on those Wrestlers, 1 point per win on the front side, 6X4, 24 points. 125-Davis 2 wins on the front side. 2 more points. 133-Nagao 3 wins on the backside. .5 points per win there. 1.5 '41, '49, '57, '65, '74, 184-Truax 2 wins on the front side 2 points, 4 wins on the backside, 2 more points. 197, HWT So they get 24 more from the finalists, 2 from Davis, 1.5 at '33, Truax 4 points. 31.5 more points They LOSE points due to the scoring. 3rd was worth 9 points in '97, 10 points now, so -1 for Kasak. 5th is worth 7 points, it was worth 5. So -3. PSU adds 28.5 points. Iowa gains 3 at 142 for a 6th place finish Gain 2 at 167(everyone else is in the finals through 167 Iowa gains 5 points. So PSU is +23.5 points due to the scoring. Has this already been done? I'm doing this as I type and not being real thorough. Anything else I've missed?
  4. Yeah...but I genuinely think it's actually getting worse. Penn State's "holes," in their lineup last year were the 125 who was a Freshmen, who was the #1 seed, their 133 who took a 5th last year and...184, the 3X AA who took a 5th this year? I think they have more PREP talent coming in this year and the next two than any 3 year period since Cael has been there(or maybe more accomplished prep talent). That talent does not always translate to the next level, but it's pretty insane. Obviously doesn't mean that these guys will be a the trios they've had, DT, Ruth, Q or Zain, Nolf, Nickal, or Starocci, Brooks and RBY. I can't see anyone pushing them but Ohio State in the near future. But with these kids teching former National Champs, who knows.
  5. They're just building... I would pay to see a College version of the Dapper Dan, but just PSU. PSU vs the rest of the Country. It's ridiculous that you could do that and not only would it be closer, I don't think anyone would be shocked if PSU won.
  6. So...the antithesis of you?
  7. There are two sides to me on this one. One of me just wants to see PSU with like...3 guys per weight who could win a NC just to see PSU be the first team to one-up Minnesota with 10 in the Finals(no more than 8 champs though). And then there's the other side of me that thinks this is already ridiculous and it'd be much cooler if these kids would just Wrestle for another team like Ohio State who could actually push them or Iowa, ISU...I don't care. Okie State? But yeah, they'll probably be at PSU because...why wouldn't they.
  8. My mistake. He was 16 at the time of his non-Snyder loss and the neck injury. 153-3 and Snyder's is pretty good and he did not look like himself at the last WC. The point was...he's been pretty good.
  9. It may...but he's a small HWT and he was supposed to be a blue chip recruit. People were talking about him winning a title as a Freshmen. Also...there are a lot of "dancing Bears," but the elite HWTs can move and I was talking more about becoming an All-American. Yonger Bastida, Kerkvliet, Elam, Trumble...and I'm not going to keep thinking of athletic HWTs as there are a LOT more.
  10. Yeah...your reading comprehension sucks. I am NOT making an argument he's leaving. I explicitly said I don't think it's a realistic option. You're creating an argument out of nothing. Smh
  11. These mindless, "America-bad," people are so insufferable. It's their entire personality and the extent of their political ideology and belief system. Don't shut it down. You have the right to be ignorant all you want in this Country.
  12. Is this serious? He's not being banned for supporting Putin or NOT supporting Putin, he's been banned for supporting the unprovoked invasion of another Country. It's a wild comparison. You have athletes who are competing who believe Gay people should be thrown off buildings. Acting like starting an unprovoked war is on the level of just who you prefer politically is...a massive jump here.
  13. I believe he has one who graduated Medical School and completed his residency two years ago and another who was Johnny Thompson's backup at Okie St.
  14. -Cool. Might as well not Wrestle then because "just no." And no, I do not have to believe that Taylor has taken this big step back in order to believe that Brooks could beat him. I COULD(and do) think that Brooks is now comfortably at the weight he'll be wrestling at and that he's in fact taken a big jump and that may be what it takes to be Taylor. You're acting like this is something you can quantify. Like a couple of sprinters. Taylor ran a 9.6, Brooks a 9.9. The ONLY way you could believe Brooks could win is if he runs a sub 9.6. That's not how Wrestling works. One big TD, feet to back and it could and likely will end that match. Brooks is certainly capable of that. He's also capable of hand-fighting, hanging in there and winning a 2-1 match IMO with a pushout and a...DT going on the 30 second clock. I do not think Taylor will lose, but I think it's reasonable enough that it's not some CRAZY upset pick like Snyder getting knocked off and I think it could simply be the result of Brooks jumping levels.
  15. Well...IF you believe that Sadulaev was injured for his last loss, then his losses on the Sr circuit are as a 13-year-old and a 6-5 loss to Snyder after bumping up a weight class. I'd put Sadulaev as my #1. It's subjective of course, reasonable people can disagree(and unreasonable people can argue with me and claim Dake is ahead of Sadulaev because he wrestles a tougher weight)...but a pretty strong argument could be made there. The argument they have over DT is that they won at multiple weights. Saitiev and Sadulaev. But I'm certainly not going to argue against DT very hard. It is a reason I'd like to see him go one more cycle. If he could manage to get a couple more WCs and MAYBE one more Olympics, then...it'd be really interesting. Of course I don't find the OPs premise as absurd as others on here do.
  16. For the same reason that the punishment is different from walking up to a man on the street and beating him(and violently raping his wife) and that man, after being hit every few years for DECADES deciding he's going to stop that man from continuing to punch him...and rape his wife. Can ya understand that "high-end logic?" Also, side note, is there "high end logic," and "low end logic?" Or is it just...logic? Shower thoughts.
  17. My issue is...how the hell do we know what these athletes truly feel? We've seen Iranian Wrestlers executed. I don't have any clue what the repercussions would be for Sadulaev to turn down an "invitation," at Putins request to show up and be at that "rally." Where there's not really free speech, it's hard for me to judge the speech of the people too much. That's all.
  18. Haines and Messenbrink...
  19. He's like 5'10. I don't see this going particularly well. Wrestling Greco(which I'm NOT looking to get into a new argument over, it's a great style, but it doesn't translate nearly as well to Freestyle).
  20. 125-Davis 133-Lillendahl 141-Bartlett 149-Kasak 157-Haines 165-Messenbrink 174-Starocci 184-Parker(upsets Barr) 197-Mirasola HWT-Kerk I didn't actually change these until I realized how many PSU guys I had in there and then figured I'd just...go all in. 125-Lillendahl 133-Crookham(I think he ends up 1 win shy of being a 4X undefeated NC) 141-Bartlett -I think he comes back and it's a coin flip between he and Mendez, but he had that TD. If he doesn't come back, Mendez and Kasak is a '41 149-Kasak-I think it'd be better if he grows into '49 with a year to get ready. If Kasak goes to '41, then Van Ness is at '49 and I like Henson there. 157-Haines-Obvious(unless they flip weights and I don't know if they do that). 165-Messenbrink -I think Hamiti can beat Messenbrink...I just don't think he can beat the thicker guys who slow down the pace. 174-Starocci -I just believe he comes back to go '74 again, if not, O'Toole 184-Sinclair -I was going to pick Arnold, but Sinclair is just SOOO slick and talented. I've said I think he's O'Toole/Messenbrink type talented and I've predicted Haines and Messenbrink to be in the finals a year before either Wrestled, so...this is my pick this year. 197-Parker -I think he'll move up. He's a big '84 and he'll likely try and Wrestle 86KG, so...just a guess, but my pick. HWT-Trumble -I've rolled with him in '21...and '22. Not I think he'll be a ~240LB HWT and he's just so tough and athletic. Kerk also seems like he's the least likely to come back...ironically with CS, but he looks like he has a perpetual "HEW" attitude. Bastida could also get in there, but I like Trumble. I'm assuming the PSU 3 come back and I don't know if Trumble cuts, but I hope he doesn't. I could see him winning a WC/OLY in the future. I think he's that good. I could see, Sealy, Barr, Mirasol, Ryder, Davis, and Kerkviet(obviously) all contending and placing in the top half...if they Wrestle. I think Davis ends up at '33, Mirasola takes '97. I'll say Facundo takes 17 Penn State is so stupid with their depth.
  21. Eh, it's just not a priority. They'd owe him 5 years, it's not a revenue sport...they have bigger priorities. If he was gonna be fired, I'd have guessed it would have happened, but maybe I'm wrong. Even if you had an elite coach, that's not going to magically solve all the issues. You walk into PSU's facilities, tOSU, Iowa...and then Wisconsin... Bono has done a really good job of getting commitments from kids. He's identified talent early...Estrada from Cali comes to mind. He was not a highly-rated recruit. He wins another title and a few months later, he flips. I'd imagine taking a visit to Iowa, and seeing the facilities he'll get to use for several years...that probably played a pretty significant role. There is a former Wrestler as the AD. He is getting new facilities built for the Football team, a new Gym. Those things should benefit the Wrestling team. MAYBE the next step is a new athletic facility that is for several sports. The Volleyball teams or...whoever, but something that at least includes a nice new room. Not holding my breath. ---And to the person who asked if people from Wisconsin root for kids who leave the state, I think so, but it's not as universal as it seems to be with NJ. There SEEM to be hard feelings they're not going to Wisconsin...but I think most want to see guys have success.
  22. LOL...exactly. If you put Cael up there, I'd pick Cael. Seemed obvious it was a "if you could get any of these coaches, which would you pick," type scenario. Everyone knows Cunningham's role at PSU...and I wouldn't be shocked if Cael only has a couple more years left and Casey takes it over...and doesn't miss a step.
  23. I remember that match. That was...an incredible match between two '89 pounders who both moved so incredibly well. I know Brandvold did some stuff at AWA while he was at Wisconsin...pretty sure he even did some technique videos with Max. Doubt they're doing that if there is bad blood...but not clue. Seems like they'd have some mutual respect. Wisconsin isn't going to fire Bono most likely anyway, so it's all moot, but Brandvold and then maybe trying to get Howe back on staff? That'd be a nice start. Whoever threw out Jeff Jaeggers, that'd be a helluva hire as well. Be nice to find someone who can peak in March!
  24. Yeah...but you're NOT going to stop me right there...unless you have REALLY poor reading comprehension. 1-If you don't like the pick, take it up with the OP who came up with the list of coaches. Several aren't going to happen. IT'S A HYPOTHETICAL. 2-I not only prefaced it by saying Cael has sacrificed money for Cunningham and he runs half the program, but I also ended by saying a REALISTIC option would be Brandvold. So tell me where TF I said I "think he's leaving that for Wisconsin?" It'd be like saying "who should the Badgers try and recruit." Should you NOT name the most obvious and the #1 recruit? As for the "his kid is coming to PSU," so what? You been paying attention to the landscape of College sports? He could easily follow his Dad and go to Wisconsin. As it stands, his kid may very well not start at PSU(not because of a LACK of talent on his behalf, but the recruits/talent they already have in there). Finally, if I was actually going to make this argument, I'd probably go back to when a B1G team poached a young HC from the B12. A coach who'd won 4 Titles and was recognized as the greatest College Wrestler ever...who had just gotten the HCing job after pushing out a HOF coach(not to mention his own coach) and left his alma mater for another school(I hope you get where I'm going with this). Wasn't real likely that Cael was going to leave Iowa State for PSU. And yet...look at that! Even with Cael's little brother Wrestling at ISU, he still ended up leaving. That's if I was going to make an argument rather than picking the most obvious name from the list of candidates presented in a poll. But SOO glad to you "stopped me there."
  25. Yeah...that looked cool as shit. I don't really see how you can talk shit about that facility.
