No...what should happen is the last guy who's foot stepped out of bounds to tie the match, he should just be declared the winner Yeah, yeah...Gif, rooting for you...rinse and repeat....
-
No need after this line. Dropped the cherry PERFECTLY on top...
-
All fair enough, it's just funny saying that about a Blair Kid. Probably had as much mat time as anyone his age. But I did take the point, he took a little while to kinda catch his stride.
-
The Navy(and AF) are also excessively paranoid(probably a poor choice of words...maybe vigilant would be better?) about previous health issues. I know a Wrestler who had asthma when he was a kid. CLEARLY didn't have it when he grew up. Prolonged his admission by about 2 months, Air Force turned him down on that alone. I don't remember what he had to do to get past it, but he was Wrestling in the State Tournament, going into OT, beating guys(ending up Wrestling at Navy). Hadn't used an inhaler I guess since he was 5-6. So did Nate have a concussion and the Navy gave him this warning(most likely that if he got another one he MAY not be able to join) or did it actually have anything to do with the number of severity of the concussions? I don't say this in a heartless way, but if you're going to become a Seal, the Navy is investing a LOT of money into you. They don't want to do that if you're potentially more inclined to have concussion issues or issues of any kind.

Exactly. Athletes for years talked about how schools were making money off of their name and they weren't benefitting. Well...now they are and they can at least let you know if they're injured or not. Again, not a hill I'd die on, but...he's also a 24 year old athlete. Chael kept calling him a "boy." He's not. He' a man.

Get a 27 year old former Navy Seal...break Charlie Jones record and probably win 4 NCs. T&T are playing the long game. That's a 4X Champ. What type of stress is a National Tournament if you're a Navy Seal? I'm only about 10% serious...
-
Eh, maybe there's some cabbage fields or something. Who knows. I was taking it as more of a UNC, but if you're just talking in the area, probably a lot of things that can stink up a region pretty good.
-
Wait...I don't get this. You have to be at 45 degrees to get NF no matter how high off the mat someone is...no? 90 for danger and 45 for NF(again, not always exactly observed...kinda like a pin that's supposed to be 1 second, but is usually closer to a touch fall).
-
Is that literal? Like you think the area actually smells bad? I was there once and I don't recall that. I do recall it went from pretty flat to Mountains in a very short time, but not an odor.
-
Yeah, the B1G was pretty weak at HWT...

It showed the score tied because it was a 1 point match!?! It was 3-2. O'Connor had RT. When is RT awarded? AFTER the match. So 3-3 makes kinda proves my point. It did NOT take both points to do that, it took ONE point to "tie" the match up on the board. It would have been 4-3 if they'd have given Humprhreys the RT AFTER the match. It did NOT show the score tied at 4-4. Christ...

Wasn't in a shoulder?

That's not the obvious at all. I don't think both points DID go up on the board and they could still check to see if their call was confirmed...which I'm fairly certain they did. The ref signals 1 green and then 1 red all in short succession. Never did he give 1 green and then another 1 green. Obviously you can review to ensure your call was correct, not just to change your call. Now if you don't have video of it, it's just my memory vs yours and this logic which is faulty....so there is literally zero point in continuing this until they throw the video up.
-
He was awarded the one for the stalling, not for the escape, that's what Scott was screaming about. I don't think he ever gave a point for the escape...but it's pointless to argue over this until someone posts the video.
-
He does seem like a nice kid. And Man...you gotta feel for him. I hope he comes back and wins it next year. It's gonna drive me nuts now. You could tell Quint puckered up a bit...and that there was no tape delay.
-
This kid was...just frickin' awesome! BTW, anyone remember who dropped the F-bomb on TV? I want to say Elam, but I don't think that was it.

Iowa targeting Nic Bouzakis along with other 2 Ferraris
scourge165 replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
Yeah...just a steaming pile of shit... (Too far?) -
I missed that conversation. I didn't think he had it...I also don't think the 4 inches is that closely observed. For instance, if Murin could have kept Yianni on his left side(right at the start of the scramble I think...when he rolls through. If he could have held him there, I think they start counting, but he was probably 4" off the mat. Murin could have easily gotten called for the defensive pin there also. Anyway, I guess I should have assumed a match between a 4X(potential 4X Champ at the time) and an Iowa guy would have been discussed.

scourge165 replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
Well...first of all, no, I did not. But the topic of the thread is Bouzakis and the Ferrari's. You just heard(figuratively speaking) from one of them...they're not leaving Ohio State...kinda cutting the credibility out at the knees. If it's just "making moves," well...yeah, that's vague enough, any team in the Country will be "making moves" and likely have some roster turnover or changes in the next 3 months. -
Where will AJ and Anthony Ferrari end up?
scourge165 replied to AOCStallsLikeAMug's topic in College Wrestling
I thought they were two separate issues as well. I didn't think he was charged for the situation with the guns, that it was either not reported or not followed up on(for whatever reason). And maybe not true, just speculation. But definitely under the impression they were two unique events. -

The kid just came out and said he's staying at Ohio State. He has an extremely close, emotional bond to Ryan and a full year to develop into a '41, or Mendez into a '41, or Mendez RS's and they figure it out. What's there still to debate? -
Scott was screaming about the 2nd stall, not the escape. I'm about 99% certain they never awarded the escape. And if they did, I don't see how they overturn it.
-
Well...good for him. But I get the confusion with people who are wondering why there hasn't been more coverage on a program that generally...get a ton of coverage. I don't think anyone's suggested he owes anyone anything. Talk about mental toughness though. Hell week...I've talked to Wrestler's who've gone off to boot camp and kinda joked that it was a breeze compared to Wrestling and Seals talk about just how...mentally exhausting the week is.

I don't know, I think you could paint a pretty ugly picture of any sport if you kinda cherry picked things like this. A coach involved in covering up athletes selling or trading drugs, prominent athletes accused of sexual assault, fighting. The B1G programs do have the facilities and they're not in dire straights financially, and Wrestling is part of their DNA. It'd be like if Women were playing Football, you'd think the SEC would be the program to be out in front there. Maybe Baseball is a better example as Football is pretty big everywhere, but, you get the point. Most of the women I've seen Wrestling just look like athletes. A coach with dyed hair or a lot of piercings, meh...is that a big deal.

So....no? I mean...I could stomach that. ONE day a year? Oh...what a delight that'd be!
