    I mean I get it, $50 can be a deal breaker for many families. offering youth wrestlers the choice between a singlet and a two-piece… I don’t see any downside.

    If no one figures out a way around Angelo’s 3 point stance, I will quit this sport. Not really, but there is a counter for everything so there has to be a counter for that.

    Never seen a wrestler wearing tights. Just singlet or shorts/shirt.

    Yeah I don’t get the argument against the two-piece other than tradition. Especially for younger than college. Even if youth wrestling participation is up with the mandatory singlet, I have to think it would be up more without the mandatory singlet. I mean, has anyone ever heard a kid or potential fan say “wrestling is not for me, the two piece uniform doesn’t show enough skin”?

    No idea but logically Hughes 41 Jamison 49 Swiderski 57 makes sense. But there's talk of hotshot freshmen doing well too, Jamison wanting to do 41 again, Swiderski wanting to do 49... folks are still kinda getting used to Coach Taylor's different approach weight management too so we'll see! I'm excited for the season, I always say football season is the best because it means folkstyle season is coming soon :)

    Agreed. It's a good start. I don't really see the team members all moving to the same city... but something to tie it together will help. Even just labeling the roster a bit more would be good. Maybe graduating university and year? Highest place at NCAAs/Worlds would be cool too but that might get a little busy. Just thinking out loud. Luke Surber (OSU '24)

    Thanks for the summary! I kinda like these rules. Makes it more arcade-ey lol Not sure about the 1000 lb "budget". Seems a little weird. And their site shows distinct weight classes. I do hope they lean into the "what college did you go to" side some. That will help us college folkstyle fans find some identity within their teams.

    I had the pleasure of getting tied into a knot by Mark in practice a couple times. I was not worth his time lol. He was the first non-OSU guy I ever rooted for. His battles with Hendricks were legendary indeed.

    Freestyle values different things. Carr was the aggressor as far as trying to create offense (at least to us folkstyle fans), but his back isn't to the center and he didn't finish the shots so it doesn't count to the refs.

    +1 Easy to optimize when you have the fundamentals solved. Applies everywhere. Easy to sleep well when you have a safe home. Easy to work longer when your tools are sharp. Basics are nailed, so you focus on the top 1%. Etc.

    I don’t get it either. He’s a warrior and seems like a super nice dude in interviews. Ever since I saw him wrestle for the first time I’ve been a fan of his, even though I’m not an Iowa fan and he whooped our guy. I think there’s been some really unreasonable expectations heaped on him and it’s just snowballed - win every match ever and then take over Iowa wrestling as coach. Come on yall its crazy talk.

    Maybe, maybe not. “OSU will compete with PSU in 3 years if everything goes according to plan” is a pretty weak position compared to what PSU has been doing for years to limit competition. Sure things look bright for OSU but I’ve seen plenty of top recruits bust there. Heck for all we know Nebraska will be the one to dethrone PSU.

    Surprising to see OSU's bench riders mentioned as obstacles to parity... I don't see them as anywhere near the same level as PSU's bench riders. OSU's backups are national qualifiers MAYBE, PSU's backups are AAs and potential finalists.
