Friday: attend a packed Gallagher Iba Arena for David Taylor's first home dual. Stillwater loves wrestling even in down years so the energy Friday will be absolutely insane. OSU will whomp Wyoming. Saturday: OSU football will flail and he'll scoot around the town with Jax to see what's up. Sunday: attend a packed GIA for DT's second home dual. A repeat of insane energy, a more competitive dual but OSU will still have a solid win. They'll both be like "dang this really is a wrestling crazy town, it would be pretty awesome to wrestle in front of 12,000 wrestling fans every home dual and train with the best in world" Wish I could be there this weekend!

I bounced around several jobs in my 20s so Gable's indecision is absolutely no surprise to me but he has a spotlight in on his every move so it's also no surprise to me that online ridicule follows. However the NCAA is full of it by letting him compete in college again. IMO. Olympic redshirt year where he didn't try out for Olympics, and assuming he got paid for WWE and NFL then he's also a professional athlete. That's another subject though.

Watching this video reminds me that Gable is still a kid trying to figure out what he wants to do after leaving the nest of college life.

Devils advocate: Avoiding ads has been a part of internet use for 3 decades. Adapt!

I don't think so. DT wants competition at the weights.

What? Do tell. -
The only odd thing I see him do is smile. No shoves or mind games. Kid's thrilled to wrestle
-
OMG right? Glad someone is finally trolling the troll.
-
How do you sound short? Just wondering. haha makes sense. These kids are still at an impressionable age and the coach/mentor relationship can last a lifetime.

OP - Brave browser or ad blocker. Mostly a problem on mobile but the workarounds are the same for mobile and desktop.

Flo interview. Sounds like he’s going.

It is a good article. free to read too. https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/12872714-why-does-iowa-wrestling-have-so-many-fans

My hot take is that if it could be fixed it would have been fixed already. Usually there are a few minor tweaks post-deployment but the ads here need MAJOR adjustments so the two likely explanations are that it's either a low-skill DIY job or a "meh, we'll get to it when/if we get to it" kind of situation. There's just no way an engaged and capable ad group puts out a product with so many problems on Day 1 and makes no improvements by Day 30. I'm not trying to be a snob about it, just relaying my experience from the web dev world.

Who can be the next Spencer in terms of program impact?

I'd copied pasted from a search, and then corrected it when it was called out. Here's my post correction -
Who is American wrestling's Jordan? Who is LeBron?

This is about as spot-on as any other wrestling GOAT claim I've seen. My brain says "yes" -

Looks like my Google search failed me. Here's what NCAA.com says from a 2022 article. 2014-2015 Tom Brands 17-1 T-1st 2nd 2015-2016 Tom Brands 16-1 2nd 5th 2016-2017 Tom Brands 13-2 3rd 4th 2017-2018 Tom Brands 12-3 4th 3rd 2018-2019 Tom Brands 14-1 3rd 4th 2019-2020 Tom Brands 13-0 1st N/A 2020-2021 Tom Brands 5-0 1st 1st I'm still skeptical of the claim that Lee turned the program around. -

His questions consistently have an English Class Homework vibe to me. “Now that you have watched Les Miserable, discuss what impacts may be found in related circumstances in pre-unification Hawkeye country. Draw upon your prior knowledge to find parallels between Spencer Lee and Penn State” etc etc lol. I always wonder why he’s asking the question and what he does with the answers. Writing a book? Falling asleep? Who knows. -

Spencer joined Iowa in 2018. Here’s how Iowa placed the last 10 years. Did he turn around the Iowa program, or did he just add to an already successful team? Team standings: 2014: 4th place 2015: 2nd place 2016: 3rd place 2017: 5th place 2018: 6th place 2019: 9th place 2021: 1st place (national champions) 2022: 3rd place 2023: 9th place -
I installed Brave browser on my phone just to cruise this site. No ads. Been about a week. This is a great site but in this day you can’t subject regular users to so many invasive ads and expect them to not find a workaround. For me the ad count ranged from 30-60 ads *that made the site hard to use* for a 10 minute browse. Anyways I hope they’re getting the revenue they need without driving off new users.

Love the geometry pun. Much nicer way of stating the obvious than what I have in mind lol

Agreed 100%. It's not just a lack of a go to leg attack, its a lack of comfort with leg attacks in general. His throw by and trip are elite, he either needs to figure out new ways to set those up or put them away and get going with single/double/ankle. Also needs to up his misdirection and level changes, he's always been a straight ahead guy. Also needs to take some of those 50/50 shots and trust himself to work through scrambles. Easy peasy
-
Maybe "freestyle" actually refers to the refs - they get to freestyle and interact with the match however they want lol
-
As an OSU fan I'm perpetually bummed out by Fix's "almost there" results. He needs to stop being so scared of taking a risky shot in a close match because its been proven that for him its riskier to NOT take a risky shot. However if every "almost there" athlete quit there would be no room guys, no JV or B team, no fill-ins, and no Cinderella stories so I see no sense in actually encouraging somebody to hang it up. Fix has expressed that he wants to coach, but he's a pretty quiet guy so he'll either need to get some hardware or come out of his shell interpersonally if he wants to embrace that kind of role. Really don't see him going the MMA route.

JB was right to call it out and he earned the right. And he did it in a post-victory interview, not in a whiny social media ragebait post when he was sitting alone on the toilet. That alone gets my respect. Plus his Starocci comment was so benign, it was one thing he said in a whole sea of thoughtful commentary. From everything I can tell JB is a class act.
