  1. Yeah they're both great wrestlers. Can't go wrong with either. The original quarter century team is for NCAA wrestling so you can't factor in international. I mean honestly its cool that two of the top picks for that weight overlapped at all.
  2. He also left out the "I entered low level tournaments to bump up my pin count" bit Also who cares about which career you'd rather have. It's about which wrestler should rep this fantasy team. If you're going for legacy and impact to the sport itself, Askren. His style changed the sport, his academy kids are crushing it, and he has influenced youth wrestling considerably in terms of training arcs. Not that Pendleton is a slouch - he helped OSU win nattys and is coaching D1 himself now. Though if you're going for who was the better wrestler during their time in D1, I have to go with Pendleton for the better fundamentals, a style that translates better to today, and winning 6/7 head to heads. Regardless they're both incredible athletes and seem like really good dudes both for the sport and personally. It's been fun reliving those matchups thanks to this thread.
  3. Can you get a takedown or exposure on a grounded opponent?
  4. Pendleton was a beast. So fun to watch. I appreciated Askren's funk but its not like scrambles weren't awesome before Askren. And right or wrong I tend to associate Askren with the "bait ya until you shoot because I don't have any good shots myself" styles.
  5. Of course he did, they’re buddies lol the Flo guys mostly seem to live in the echo chamber they’ve created. Like it’s fine but it’s entertainment and shouldn’t be taken too seriously by us fans. Would be nice if Pyles took that lead too but he’s really leaned into “look at me and listen to me I am so meta and wise” shtick so probably a lost cause
  6. Yeah. Jealousy for sure. It’s very un-wrestling to whine and complain and air out years-old beefs with the most famous guy in the sport (who has no interest in you)
  7. I’m always curious what you’re asking these questions for Jimmy. It sounds like you’re researching for something.
  8. I don’t think Bo’s attention seeking moves the needle much. Pro wrestling has everybody on board with the storylines, whereas Bo mostly just complains by himself. I have a hard time seeing anyone get into the sport because of some Jerry Springer drama coming from a retired wrestler. Who knows though
  9. Teague Moore and Eric Guerrero were pretty awesome back to back. First two weights of the dual too
  10. Sounds like something a Woke Marxist Trumpster Nazi hell bent on destroying my way of life would say I’m joking, but that's where our society is at regarding discourse.
  11. Hustling! Reminds me of the musician life - do what jobs you can that fit a hectic schedule so you can hone your craft and take shots at greatness.
  12. Brands hires John Smith who comes out of retirement to run the Iowa RTC
  13. Thanks. Spread the reasonableness with me.
  14. Governance is boring, but crucial to a society that wants to function at a high level. Trouble is American political rhetoric has become so heated that nobody can have a normal conversation about these common interests. How can you talk about the very boring but very important topics of road maintenance, park hours, water treatment practices, social programs etc when the Evil Other Side is actively trying to ruin the country forever? Our congresspeople have completely duped the public into thinking they're some kind of saviors, when the data itself shows that there's not much difference between Republican and Democrat administrations. By and large the economy grows, the debt grows, unemployment goes up and down, etc. It's a shame because if enough folks stopped fighting these emotional imaginary battles then they could pressure the electeds to fight real battles like paying off the national debt, combatting predatory healthcare practices, keeping inflation and cost of living down, ensuring cybersecurity, deterring WWIII, etc Anyways thats my soapbox lol
  15. Thanks! I made a post. It's up now! Bumping for you to know as well
  16. Yeah, I think the offseason will be slow on the forum and hopefully they'll have it together by the start of the college season. I can see a lot of folks checking back in around then to see if it's available. Can you still post? Maybe tell people to come here and we can have a mini-forum for the time being?
  17. "Can anybody go to a website for me?" Lol the old Iowa forum URL literally takes you to the new forum
  18. They do police what universities are allowed to do. They do not police an individual athlete receiving however much money for doing a thing.
  19. Investigating this morning. I made a free account and posted on PSU and Iowas boards. OSUs board is still locked up. Supposedly that'll change soon?
  20. Yeah I'm tempted to get the cheapo week subscription just to see what folks are talking about and potentially set a rally point here. But then that'll only be visible to other paying posters. We really should have done a better job before the switch. Interestingly, PSU wrestling forum is not behind the paywall. Iowa wrestling one looks like it is, but I made a free account and can now see the content and post on both. OSU wrestling forum is still locked up though. I'll post on those couple of boards to see if I find anything out.
  21. I’m still holding out for the free version. Has there been any word on that? I see threads but can’t view them obviously. Definitely miss the forum, lol… will probably end up paying for it which is lame but if there’s no other option I guess that’ll be the option. Unless folks defect from On3 en masse and come here?
  22. No revenue share for OU wrestling? How does this affect guys on their roster vs other rosters where they do revenue share? I should read up on it, most of what I’ve seen is related to football.
  23. I read that On3 would be going to non-premium in a few days. Guess we’ll see! I’ll miss the old forum. But times are a-changing.
  24. Journalists go after the stories, often to a fault. The Flo guys are paid off, nervous, and/or unqualified for these Penn State screwups. Or their bosses are. This isn’t the normal content.
