  1. Also: Rowlands and Mocco wrestled 19 times over the course of their careers! Mocco won 11.
  2. Shane Sparks podcast has been enjoyable.
  3. I wish him well, and he has been fun to watch, but just a dumb dumb idea.
  4. If Franek majors Haines and Haines falls apart in the third? Would that be a Carvering?
  5. I also like when he was making excuses for Starocci missing a couple matches saying something along the lines of "30-40 matches a year wears on you, these guys need occasional breaks," as if Stall-rocky was ever very active. (The PSU 174 even said that he prob would have wrestled through his ailment in past years) Also his recent insistence that Real Woods has always wrestled close matches. Maybe a lot through his career, but he was a bonus points machine for much of last year. Some truth to those statements, but not as much as Basch thinks.
  6. Haha! Beat me to it!
  7. I agree. All the coverage of who Basch's "guys" are and who he has texted lately never seems to make it to FRL. Also did you know NLWC will put 5-6 guys on the Olympic team and Iowa is going to be shut out tonight? (Neither is out of the realm of probability, but each is a bit unrealistic)
  8. I give lengthy presentations on a regular basis, but was completely thrown off when I was on the witness stand for a criminal case. And when I say "witness stand" I mean STAND! As in "no chair to sit in." I present standing up all the time, but this was a terrible set-up for me. Not to mention that nearly everything I said was objected to!
  9. Hmmm. Does Spartan Combat RTC "occasionally" practice with the Cornell team? I wonder if Kem ever offered any advice to Cornell athletes? But given that info, it makes sense he would want to officially be on a staff to build his resume. I think he has said that he wants to make a career of coaching.
  10. What happened to Kem at Cornell? The season isn't even over!
  11. Jacob Warner: Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls."
  12. Great music for my nightly post-practice run in college. My yellow walkman was sweet. I would alternate between Iron Butterfly, Tom Petty's "Full Moon Fever," Motley Crue's Greatest Hits, Elvis' "Aloha from Hawaii," and LL Cool J.
  13. True. Except Michael Myers wouldn't be content to win by decision over Nelson Brands or Rocco Welsh.
  14. This is based on what I saw last week (and tbh most of the season). In all honesty, I think Iowa has wrestled well, and some of their less established guys have shown improvement, but it won't be enough. I would be happy to be wrong. 125 Ayala dec Davis 3-0 Iowa 133 Nagao dec. Schriever 3-3 141 Bartlett dec. Woods 6-3 PSU 149 Kasak dec, Rathje 9-3 PSU 157 Haines dec Franek 12-3 PSU 165 Mesenbrink dec Caliendo 15-3 PSU 174 Starocci dec. Kennedy 18-3 PSU 184 Truax maj Riggins 22-3 PSU 197 Brooks dec. Glazier 25-3 PSU 285 Kerk wbf Hill 31-3 PSU A little Carver magic could help (and prob will) help Iowa turn the tide at at least one match 133-165 and reverse my prediction. Any of the matches 174-197 could easily get uglier for Iowa if things go wrong, unless there are some lineup shenanigans. I have PSU by 28, but wouldn't be surprised if it were 22.
  15. Just speculation, I think... but not out of the realm of possibility.
  16. A lot of people are saying this. I think it comes from the Woods' matches with the largest viewership this year: a somewhat controversial stinker over Echemendia and then the blowout loss vs. Michigan. In between, he has looked very good at times including a dominant win over Hardy (his toughest regular season match last year) and Lachlan McNeil.
  17. Ummm maybe in your reality. Never happened in this corner of the multiverse.
  18. Nate Carr Sr. actually
  19. Trying not to get locked up on some specious charges?
  20. Unlike posting, I have good judgement when officiating. However, sometimes I get a bit too close to the action in both.
