  1. Other than Jon Jones, which current champs have a wrestling base? (And Jones may be the most well-rounded champ ever). Dana doesn't like a lot of wrestling in fights, he loves knockouts. In fact, their most high profile college wrestler (Bo) didn't attempt one takedown. All-American Michael Chandler is more of a brawler who was repeatedly taken down by a BJJ guy. All-American Gaethje never wrestles. I just don't see a lot of wrestling at that level anymore despite Bo saying he's always going to approach fights as a wrestler first.
  2. I was super concerned about that particular matchup. Craig is known for being very slippery and dangerous on bottom, meaning that Bo was likely going to avoid takedowns unless he was badly losing the standup. The size difference was also a concern. Two straight underwhelming performances, both on huge main cards and you can understand why Bo isn't a fan favorite. Meanwhile, I think he should probably just go full heel, ala "The Rock" when fans didn't buy his good guy persona. Bo had no problem being a villain in NCAA.
  3. Did anyone sign off on this transfer?
  4. I'm kinda thinking that he really can't do it anymore after last week!
  5. "Cale Anderson" sound like a fake name.
  6. Was he a beneficiary of a size advantage that came with a massive weight cut to 125? It seems he was able to handle the ill-effects of the cut, until nationals. Now at 133, he may not be able to use his size/length as effectively? I think he will be fine in the long run.
  7. Didn't he break the news of Bartlett's signing with PSU before it was common knowledge. Wasn't BB committed to Princeton at the time? Or am I thinking of someone else?
  8. He may have access to some loose-lipped parents. We know that there was a similar situation over at Iowa. I do think that the guppy gets a lot of info just from perusal of message boards.
  9. I don't think he's important enough to PSU to be scolded.
  10. Huh? The UFC audience is largely right leaning. This had nothing to do with politics. In general, the UFC fans don't like "boring wrestlers." They feel as if Bo should not be on main cards on PPVs yet. There is a lot of hype and they are bringing him along slowly, but he still is on huge cards. Combine that with two straight "boring" fights, and you get boos... There was a lot of standing around in that fight.
  11. Now the name calling begins. You got very weepy when I had a different opinion than yours. You could have discussed things rationally, but you chose to pout. Now name-calling.... Here is how you debate your point: Gable Steveson is the most recent Olympic gold medalist who is an active wrestler. He may actually be our most recent gold medalist! He has beaten two of the 21st century's best in the Olympics. I feel that puts him above Dake and Starocci, neither of whom has ever beaten anyone as good as Taha or Geno at the Worlds or Olympics. (Yes Starocci is an NCAA wrestler, but he is not even good enough to get out of the USA in MFS, so he can't possibly compare to Steveson) This is what qualifies Gable to be called our current p4p best wrestler.
  12. In fact, I will add my high school coach to this. Back in the dark ages, I was knocked out cold. Scraped off the mat. I love my high school coach, and he was one of the most influential people in my life. Well, he had me out there in the next dual an hour or so later. We just didn't know what we know now, and I'm sure he wanted to win, too. It is always very tempting for competitive people.
  13. I agree. I also think trainers/doctors feel pressure from coaches and coaches need to use the eyeball test and do what is best for the kid. That's the direction I was going with this. I would also add obvious examples of David Taylor in his first worlds (I think) and Berge. Not to pick on PSU/NLWC (for once), just because it was pretty obvious what was happening and both were widely viewed. I'm sure there are a million others we never even think of or didn't notice.
  14. Haha... @TNwrestling all in his feelings and can't have a discussion. Poor guy. How can he handle the mental rigors of pro wrestling?
  15. You can have whatever opinion you want! You are so thin skinned that apparently you don't like discussion and/or can't defend your irrational picks? Anyone questions your picks and you start crying and posting emojis? Now I know!
  16. But this did happen, correct? CKLV? And the medical staff should not be making that type of error. Not really ok.
  17. You have to be kidding me. Amit is fantastic, but would be clobbered by any man near her weight in the top 10. That takes her out of p4p. Absurd. Dake over Spencer? That is wild. One almost got teched by a journeyman, the other lost a tight match to a champ from a weight up. Starocci is NOT better than Gable.
  18. Who is? And it has been 18 months, and he looked pretty good against Parris who ended up Bronze that year.
  19. Which active wrestler would be better/more accomplished?
  20. I'm not disagreeing with almost anything here, just passing along what I heard. However, do I remember him being let on the mat after being concussed last year? Maybe CKLV?
  21. Kinda crazy, but I heard a respected wrestling journalist say something fairly similar to what "Mr. 4 Posts" said. I was pretty surprised to hear this!
  22. Yes, but: tougher entrance requirements (I realize there are workarounds), tougher academic schedule, beautiful area... but not for everyone. Then you have the fact that his two cousins both committed to Cornell and flipped. One was even up there for a greyshirt experience and left. I would take that into account.
  23. Have you heard of "age cheating?"
  24. And Askren messing with an employee at the Great Wall Alpine Slide.
