  1. Similar to PSU the past couple of years?
  2. - Keep in mind that Trepham and Catka may both be JVs this year - Rathjen is probably not even a factor in the Iowa room at 157, let alone nationally... likely another JV - Covid years, readily available medical redshirts, poaching of rosters, easy transfers, etc. have made a mess of things and guys who were serviceable starters are sent to the bench in 2024-2025.
  3. No, not French. If it were, he would have spelled it "geaux."
  4. You mean the same Mineo that defended Ferrari on Saturday, said that Stemmet was classless and trashed anyone who would 'hate on a kid,' before he trashed Nelson Brands the very next day?
  5. He is already enrolled in school in Japan.
  6. Women are irrelevant in this discussion because of hormonal/cultural differences. They are fundamentally different from men for a variety of reasons. They are ready to compete at the world level at younger ages, and they may retire sooner for reproductive/cultural issues. Apples and oranges. MMA (and boxing) have been brought up because guys tend to stay around longer in the upper weights. Amazing how it seems to be the same throughout combat sports.
  7. I think its just going to be grappling from what he has said recently
  8. But I think you've kind of moved the goalposts to dominance over an extended period/multiple quads. What does women's freestyle have to do with the price of tea anywhere? I moved the goalposts? I said Vito was not "young" and questioned his ability to be our guy for the entire 2028 quad. That was literally the original discussion. Also, how many of your "dominant lightweights" had to make weight the day of competition? And how OLD is Demtrious Johnson?
  9. I did, and will continue to do so.
  10. Oh, I COMPLETELY get that. But we have multiple posters wondering in DT is recruiting him, if he's going to try NCAA, or even enroll at Cornell or PSU. The NCAA thing just isn't going to happen.
  11. Hopefully we can keep Lisa out of this thread!
  12. Ummm lets count the reasons why not: Already a student in Japan. Significant language difficulties. Significant cultural differences. Wrestling folkstyle? C'mon man! Are you sure he's still a fan of Vito?
  13. Why would he want to go to a country with what many are calling an 'inferior freestyle program' and wrestle US folkstyle? I can see a trip or two and some extended stays, but I doubt he enrolls at a US college.
  14. $10,001 I think? Or as the other poster said $10,001 US! More than he ever made at a wrestling tournament. The nerve of him to get out of the sport!
  15. Is it possible that DT thought the match was actually completed/ I enjoyed his moment with the Iranian coach.
  16. First of all... Cejudo is rumored to be seeking a fight at 145. Next, I would suggest not just looking at the "average age" of 57 and 61 kg guys. I would suggest looking at dominance over an extended period... which is where I started this conversation. How many guys at 57 and 61 have medalled consistently over 2+ quads? Not a lot. But you see it quite a bit with big guys. Saduleev, Snyder, Taylor, Geno, Taha, Baumgartner, Medved, Karelin, etc, etc, etc. Which of the light guys consistently put it all together for multiple quads? Jordanov? Not Heiguchi... serious issues in 2021 for instance. Mirrors other combat sports with guys like Jones, Fury, Couture, etc.in UFC.
  17. GReat job. What a way to go out. What a career.
  18. Going up to 145 too, I think. This was my point btw. The weight gain. With day before.
  19. It doesn't really matter. He made his decision and seems to be at peace with it.
  20. unfortunately for those hypothetical wrestlers, it is just about the most ethnically homogeneous country on earth, Some Ainu, some Koreans. Both low numbers.
  21. But I'm super happy with his result and will be more than happy if he continues on this path through 2028. We need someone who is scoring points. If not him, I hope we have someone else who can get it done.
  22. Yes. His hips may be Sir Mix-a-lot approved. And his snaps were vicious.
  23. Honestly, I thought Taylor was more physically impressive that Saduleev. Especially with Saduleev's ill-fitting singlet. Who thought that thing looked good?
