  1. He was worried that he might not be able to lock his hands on Taylor. He could probably wrap his arms around Lee twice and it would still be too loose.
  2. Those freshman heavyweight and 190/197 champs are playing football. You were given numbers, you just chose not to take them. You say the limited number of four time champs is too small a sample size; I asserted the sample size is every athlete who ever wrestled division 1 in college since the early 70s. You worry about "feelings," but hint that the only reason Lee wins is "hand and arm strength."
  3. I have had quotes by Plato and Aristotle directed at me today, one of which was from SocraTease. (The other was from Backward Hat Guy)
  4. Concerned about "others beating a dead horse;" starts a doping thread about a member of a European wrestling team who is a "US resident,"
  5. I think you probably know the answer to this; what substance were two members of the Greco team popped for?
  6. HUGE sample size of thousands of wrestlers! The only four timers from middle and upper weights!
  7. Yeah... Suriano outgrew 125 until Lee had two torn ACLS then he mysteriously dropped a weight!
  8. Must've been Alberto Salazar, Mark Kerr, Mark Coleman and the rest of the American Olympic Doping Illuminati that he was conspiring with!
  9. And Mark Hall is only a one-timer! Crazy!
  10. Obviously not his error, but you can see why a mega conference with their own network gets more national attention than the EIWA. I still have not watched EIWA tournament matches despite the fact that an athlete I have worked with in the past qualified through the conference.
  11. Or even the Big 10 championships.
  12. Bonus rate is no myth. You are correct about the Covid year making weight classes deeper, however you now get five shots to win. This skews "all-time" stats a bit. However, I think we (as a nation) have been getting deeper anyway. For example: heavyweight has not been hugely affected by these extra covid year guys, but in recent years is probably the deepest weight we have ever had as far as international age group accomplishments.
  13. Also, perhaps the more historically dominant program with the largest fanbase playing a role. Not to mention the "excuses are for wusses" clip may have been more mainstream than the "nuts" soundbite.
  14. Zain was pretty good, too! DT is an all-time great but "only" won twice, so I think he's out of the conversation. If they get four (five), Brooks and Starocci are both all-timers on anyone's list, but lack of bonus, greyshirting and Covid years have kinda muddied things up a bit. I may even like Ed Ruth over the two for these reasons.
  15. This makes sense. I've never seen a seatbelt or bodylock throw in freestyle.
  16. Shane Sparks and Robert Urich? Who knew?
  17. "fellar" Ummm... probably the best translation for the Plato quote is "Ignorance is the root of MISFORTUNE.' You are trying to school me, but end up using an adjective instead of a noun. Real brainiac! I guess you are ignorant, making you misfortunate! The "keggers' guy! I was just pointing out the hypocrisy, and you gave me more hypocrisy! There was literally an article in the local PSU paper saying injuries were probably going to cost them the title. Their solution to plug these holes was going to be a guy coming off an ACL surgery. This was only back in 2020, when many of the current PSU bunch were in school. 2020! PSU guys are injured at a fairly high rate. It just hasn't cause them to miss a lot of time since covid. Recency bias
  18. At no point did I say that I was invoking irony. Indeed, I am sincere. I am sincerely focusing on the double standard.
  19. (Anytime a guy with a black and gold singlet gets hurt, it is blamed on "1970s training techniques, " "load management," etc.; even if the guy arrived in Iowa City with previous injuries. I'm just (tongue in cheek) applying the same logic to PSU, who also has had plenty of injuries)
