  1. He was saying this to compliment Yianni. BTW Nolf was just on Bader's show. He told a story of his recruitment. (Keep in mind, he wasn't into the recruiting process and knew almost nothing about college wrestling). When Nolf was a sophomore in HS, he did an interview with Flo. He was set to be a top recruit (ended up with only one HS loss, and looking like a 3x PA champ). Flo asked where he wanted to go, and he said "Cornell (he was a very strong student and he knew about Kyle Dake.) When his recruitment officially opened, there was almost zero interest. He was getting no phone calls. Nolf thinks it was because everyone thought he was set on Cornell. At this point, Nolf's father got involved and started calling college coaches... and it changed everything. So a LOT changed in 15 years. Apparently coaches respected kids verbals 15 years ago. Now, a verbal is worth so little that even forum posters think its a joke. It was not intended to be a joke.
  2. There is not, and never was, "signing" for the Ivies. A publicized verbal commitment is intended to end the recruiting process. It is supposed to be the kid signalling that he has made his decision and does not want to be bothered. This is entirely on the kid, the intended school cannot comment whatsoever. Unfortunately ethics have taken a beating. The kids use this to drive up their asking prices. The schools often ignore the verbals. Bad behavior by both parties. The purpose is SUPPOSED to be an end to the recruiting process. If the kid doesn't intend on ending the process, jhe shouldn't make the announcement. PS Did Yianni delete the tweet about blocking phone number?
  3. How old is Scott Lang? Does time pass differently in the Quantum Universe?
  4. Only 7th. I believe he is 25 and will turn 26 during the season.
  5. I didn't have my own D1 recruiting experience, but I would imagine that you verbal early for a number of reasons: #1 to stop the constant barrage of texts and calls, but also probably to make sure everything is situated with your chosen destination (ie they don't recruit over you). It is possible we may see some of this play out with one of the top recruits in the country who felt wronged by the B10 school that he verballed to. (and now he has good reason to feel vindicated) My understanding is some fires may need to be extinguished.
  6. I mean... Spencer Lee missed an OTT with injury. O'Toole? Vito. How many others?
  7. You are confusing illegal with unethical. I never said it was illegal to recruit a verbal commit. It is, however, unethical.
  8. Because they knew Brooks was going up and they would have a hole. When Keck chose to stay at UNI, they filled the hole with Truax. I mean, that's pretty obvious. This was all alluded to by Mike Mal when he had Schwab on his show. Mal brought it up and Schwab chose not to correct him... so I imagine that it is true. I posted the link a few weeks ago.
  9. Who was the money man from PSU who called Keckheisen? If PSU did not recruit Kerk, and Kerk approached them about transferring, the ethical response by the PSU staff would have been "Is Coach Ryan aware that you want to transfer to PSU? Lets get him on the phone." That's moral and ethical. We know there is no way that happened.
  10. ACL tear? Two ACL tears? I'm wondering how "bad" it really was. I have now doubt it was something. He was healthy enough for OTT shortly after.
  11. Indeed, a different era. It just shows how sneakily slimy some programs have been. Very under the radar. At this point, it is a new game and there is a lot more sliminess. (ie PSU boosters contacting Keck after he was second in 2023)
  12. Which school does he coach at? Is it anything like the recruitment of Kerk by PSU at U20 Worlds? Better? Worse?
  13. Totally unethical, and some coaches choose to back off at this point, while wishing the recruit well.
  14. Sorry that I am unable to link his x post at the moment, but: Yianni: Didn't realize how hard college coaches go after athletes that are already committed, I don't like that at all Rob Koll: You've forgotten your recruiting experience. I vividly recall one particular coach from Happy Valley continuing to pursue you up to the day you signed... and I really don't blame him!
  15. And honestly... how old is Attasuov anyway? (Just looked it up. They claim that he is 25. Wouldn't ne surprised if he was a year or two older)
  16. If I remember, he sold his story. Got paid. Then wasn't happy with the "creative liberties." The movie is generally considered to be excellent. It was critically acclaimed and received five Academy Award nominations. The movie is not my cup of tea, however. I watched it once, and wouldn't care to watch it again. BTW I was granted an audition to be an extra, but it was very last minute and I couldn't make it work with my schedule.
  17. I'm not sure what that person is talking about. However, I do seem to remember that the "leg clinch" at that time was going to complicate things for him, and wondered how they would apply it to Robles.
  18. Limited theatrical release starting 12/6.
  19. Buxton left correct? Sounds like a great landing spot for Bill Bassett! He wouldn't be the first RTC coach/dad.
  20. Or kids could move back to FL and the younger Forrest could move to be nearer big brother. Stillwater HS is already very familiar with this type of transfer.
  21. I don't think any fakery is needed, not just in this case. It seems they are giving medicals away like candy in recent years. (Not implying Chittum is faking)
  22. I'm guessing that when the Bassett's are gone, it is highly possible that the man responsible for growing the program may be gone, too.
