  1. I know intermat's rankings are used for seeding purposes at both the Scholastic and Collegiate level. I cannot think of an instance where Flo's is used.
  2. To add to this, Wrestlestat has it as this (and mind you, these are metrics based off results with no opinion added to them): Elam > Sinclair > Hawks > Nitzel > Stoner Thought process there is that if the three 'better' wrestlers there can be in three different weight classes, you spread them to three different weight classes (providing it isn't unhealthy for one or more of them to do so - which wouldn't be the case because nobody would be cutting here).
  3. There are a lot of matchups that COULD be competitive, but Ohio State is definitely the heavy favorite. 125 McCrone should be heavily favored over either of the Tanefeu twins. Kilkeary, while I think a better wrestler, just hasn't put it together this year to earn the spot (even losing to McCrone. McCrone has much better mat wrestling at this point in their careers, and that means more potential bonus points. I think McCrone pulls a Tech, here. tOSU 5, UofM 0 133 Bouzakis should business done here rather easily. In fact, if there were a weekend to give him rest from the cut, it might be this weekend. I believe Kilkeary would be able to handle Wertanen easily enough. I am going to say Tech here as well. tOSU 10, UofM 0 141 I know a lot of folks, myself included, have wanted to see Lemley-Mendez because of their styles of wrestling, but Mendez isn't just 'good' he is the best at this weight at doing what he does. This is in Ann Arbor, but Mendez is just too good to not do what he does to Lemley. Now, I know Lemley has been wrestling more defensive here, and styles do make matchups, but Mendez Majored Lehigh's Stanich 14-3 after Lemley lost to him in rideouts 3-2. There are levels to this and there are at least a couple in between these two. Mendez Tech. tOSU 15, UofM 0 149 Gilcher has a wide open style, so when he loses big, it tends to be him opening up and the other wrestle capitalizing on it. That is what D'Emilio did earlier this year at the Clarion Open. Gilcher absolutely could keep it close, but D'Emilio's mat wrestling and discipline will likely earn him another Major. I wouldn't be surprised to see Gavin Brown here, or someone else to give D'Emilio the weekend off, as well. If Gavin Brown, it's a toss-up. If Catrabone, he beats Brown via Pin, but loses to D'Emilio in the same manner. Major or Tech. tOSU 19, UofM 0 157 I want Sasso to win it all... to place highly would also be a moral victory. I think we see either Herman or Cannon and I think Saldate wins a hard fought Decision. I also think Saldate wins a Decision over Sasso right now. tOSU 19, UofM 3 INTERMISSION 165 I think Mantanona will have trouble with Gallagher's grit, but I think he'll open it up with a couple of slick takedowns and win the takedown battle 2-1 or 3-1. A solid win that is closer than the score might appear, and I think this match might be quite a bit different come B1Gs once both of these two settle in at the weights better. tOSU 19, UofM 6 174 If it's Kharchla and Walker, I don't see this being close. Kharchla will be pushing for a Major here and should be able to control where the match takes place. I would love to see the younger Mantanona get the nod here and use his 5th appearance, just so we can see how he might do against an elite 174lber - even if extremely undersized. Kharchla is right in that next tier of contenders and should place high this year. tOSU Major if Walker or Mantanona. tOSU 23, UofM 6 184 While I think Bullock might be a bit off right now, I still think he's the better wrestler against Rogotzke and is well capable of winning this via Decision. I am going to give it to Bullock in the home match via Decision. tOSU 23, UofM 9 197 I think Cardenas pulls out bonus here. It's either Major or Tech against Shumate. He's just to big, fast, and strong and it's a poor matchup for a Shumate who isn't a full-sized 197lber. tOSU 23, UofM 14 285 Another match where the coaching staff could give their #1 guy the night off. A Swenski-Heindselman match would likely be a snooze fest. Heindselman beat him 15-3 last time, but Swenski likely keeps it close this time. I think a Heindselman-Feldman match is a true toss-up, and the only one of the dual. It went 8-5 at NCAAs last year in OT and I could see it going the same again. That said, Heinsdelman via Decision over Swenski. tOSU 23, UofM 17 FINAL
  4. This isn't a thing. Their oath prevents them from allowing opinion to influence. It seems robotic, but for rankings it seems to work (for them).
  5. The three best guys at 184-197-285 would be Hawkes/Sinclair, Hawkes/Sinclair, Elam, right? That is your best peak potential lineup.
  6. Are we sure the Mant-brothers are 157/165 next year, or 165/174? With Gilcher and Cantrabone, I think one goes up. I wouldn't use eligibility up. Even were Saldate not there, I wouldn't.
  7. He was decked in the NC match against Starocci for trying to scramble.
  8. @Wrestleknownothing 42 takedowns total.
  9. That is my entry here because I want to piss off people. My actual entry on Matness will be significantly different.
  10. Because 333 is half of 666.
  11. I meant the 333 under the picture, my man.
  12. Just to ruffle some feathers...
  13. Before I threw those last two reactions at you, I thought you might appreciate this...
  14. Your second paragraph is precisely why I think Rutgers is still very much alive. They could usher in a new era at Rutgers for the next 5-10 years of NCAA podium finishes, the like of which has never happened for Rutgers (right?). That said, if the coaching staff was good enough, they would have more perennial contenders, right? Oklahoma State, Iowa, and Penn State seem to be the Top 3 most logical choices. Michigan because of the moneys and Rutgers because of the opportunity to start something great there seem to be less likely, but also logical.
  15. I want to step in here with you, but SVN - Lovett was 2-2 with a minute left in the match, so basing this off of a 10-2 Major isn't really that good, man... and it was in Nebbie! SVN has destroyed everyone else this year and between his first and second match with Parco, the gap widened. SVN is in the better room. The maths is mathing the wrong way, here brada. I want to help you and take one of the bettors off your hands, but I feel the need to tell you that Iowa-Penn State is also in Penn State this year. Pleeeeease don't go through with it. I don't want to see you hurt! Also, I don't want to have to change my avatar to mirror yours again (in to something silly... because I'll do it!).
  16. He has beaten last year's #7 (Little, #9 seed), #8 (Beard, #4 seed), and R12 (Poz, #14 seed). If you aren't willing to call him a contender, you shouldn't be willing to call Focus a contender, either.
  17. Damn. Zillmer Jr?
  18. Also, FWIW, his schedule has been brutal the last several matches. Walters doesn't do better in that stretch. You're talking about a guy who hasn't made 184lbs in YEARS coming down and doing better, when he isn't exactly blowing out his competition at 197lbs...
  19. That true frosh was at 160 last year, too? I think something is up with Bullock. If Walters were able to go 184 and beat Bullock, I think we would have seen him already.
  20. He was slightly less successful in High School, however still an absolute hammer. I have always thought him as good as Evan here, and his results are now.
  21. Oh, the Iowa State team that could have been. At least they won every single toss-up. Echemendia as the 141lb starter doesn't seem such a guarantee at this point.
  22. So to summarize this last offseason: - Askren turned the job down - In anger, or response(?), administration extended Bono - Wiscy regresses to the lowest it's been in the Wrestelstat era (dual rank) with many injury issues I wish Reader would get out of his shadow and show what he is capable of, although I am thankful that Bennett was able to tab the spot at CMU instead of Reader.
