Stanich is not going 149.
-
Forgot to include this tidbit when making my previous post... Stanich was seeded #132 at the US Open. With the exception of the WTT best-of-three, he had a pigtail in every tourney he entered this summer (US Open, U20 Pan-Ams, U20 Worlds). https://uww.org/article/stanich-proves-doubters-wrong-wins-u20-world-title

I assume Joey McKenna is still in the mix as well? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Cooperman is one of my favorite Lehigh wrestlers. Didn't make it to the scale in 2003 as a #6 at 133; He then finished his last three years at 141, placing 7-3-3 with a total NCAA record of 17-4. His 17 wins break down as follows: 4 DEC, 7 MAJ, 2 TF and 4 Falls His 4 losses: 2 LBFs (Michael Martin in 0:26 in the 2004 pigtail, and Andy Simmons in the QF as a JR); and close decisions against Nate Gallick and Teyon Ware.

Not a head coach, but Lehigh just fired Sammy Sasso. He lasted from June 30 to July 26.

According to the wrestlers at UB, conditions aren't the greatest. https://www.ubspectrum.com/article/2024/04/wrestling-team-complaints-2024

Carter Starocci faces allegations of sexual assault and theft

Penn State University police investigating? Nothing has changed since Paterno and Sandusky. It’s a community driven by athletic department interests. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I did a kindergarten RS for my son. He will turn 19 in late April of his SR year in HS. Even with the RS, he is the smallest kid in his class - with a 160+ IQ. He is taking AP Pre-Calc next year as a 7th grader. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

PSU will very likely be in a position that they could ORS 70% or more of their starting lineup - particularly with scholarship/roster cap changes.

Delete. Comment already made by others.

Agree. Should have started as 1-0 Miller instead of 4-0 Duke. Step out preceded that 4-point throw.
-
He just completed his 2nd year at Lehigh. Hard to imagine he was an 19-year old true frosh when he earned AA at 125 in 2024.

Maybe it will be for future events. Nevada is moving to eliminate daylight savings time. https://www.rgj.com/story/news/2025/04/19/an-end-to-daylight-saving-in-nevada-effort-is-now-one-step-closer/83164791007/

Did you really think the Saturday schedule was going to have weigh-ins begin at 7:30 AM Eastern time? I don't think athletes in Vegas would weigh-in at 4:30 AM local time to support your east coast bias. (for what it's worth, I lived on the east coast for nearly 40 years before moving to Vegas 20 years ago.) Saturday, April 26 Doors open for athletes & coaches 6:30 AM Workout Mats Available for Athletes that are weighing in ONLY 6:30 AM - 8:00 AM Weigh-ins & Medical Check - scratch weight 7:30 AM – 8:00 AM U20 – Freestyle ONLY U17 – Freestyle ONLY

Best to ever beat you (more post-NCAA banter)
lu_alum replied to jackwebster's topic in College Wrestling
Here's a quick list off the top of my head... Jim Martin, NCAA 4-2-1-3. Champ at 126 in 1988. Martin lost two bout during his frosh year in HS (5th at states), then went undefeated for the remainder of his HS career. I was his 100th consecutive win during the streak that closed out his HS career. Scott Collins, 1991 NCAA Champ (149) Mike Cole, 2x AA. 3rd at 142 in 1987 & 1989. Was the #1 seed at NCAAs in 1989, having beat Pat Santoro in the All Star Classic & EWL tourney. Paul Gemberling, Fargo champ, PIAA AAA champ & 4th for Shikellamy. Last person to beat Jack Cuvo in HS loss, during their sophomore seasons. Tony Reed, NCAA R12 @ 134 in 1989. 2x PIAA AAA state champ for Shikellamy. -

Best Wrestlers to Never Win an NCAA Title
lu_alum replied to WrestlingRecords.com's topic in College Wrestling
Missing from this list is Trenge, who placed 2-2-3 for average finish of 2.33. His frosh season got lost in late February 2001 due to detached and torn retinas. During the season, he had beaten the guys who placed 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th at NCAAs. -
I don't know about unlimited bricks. I like the international approach. One brick per match. If the challenge is successful, you keep the brick. If you fail a challenge, you lose the brick and your guy loses a match point.
-
Disagree with this viewpoint. You can't tell me the the top guy isn't stalling when he throws in double boots and flattens out the bottom guy. Bottom guy always gets called, but what is he to do if incapacitated? When the top guy does that & stays parallel, he is most certainly stalling.

Lehigh's nucleus is as follows. Three AAs and a R12 return. 125: Sheldon Seymour AA (6th 2025) 133: Ryan Crookham AA (3rd 2024) 141: Luke Stanich AA (5th 2024) 149: Kelvin Griffin NQ (2024) 157: Logan Rozynski NQ (2025) 165: Max Brignola 2x NQ (2022, 2024) 174: ??? 184: Caden Rogers NQ (2025) 197: JT Davis? 285: Nathan Taylor R12 (2024)
